#1009381 Epic Quests & Legendary Beasts!

Posted by LordOfRuin on 19 May 2023 - 18:18

Noticed the following with the new quests (copy and paste from a submitted ticket):

did the new epic quests but experienced some strangeness:

Portalled from CoW to Taymar Divide... Could not (and STILL CANNOT) access Utapo Flats OR Altar Forest... I don't even get the mouse icon changing to the the pointy hand.. I CAN access (with pointy hand showing) Death Gorge realms (this is how I got to UF North)

During the new quest (at the first point where both are active on the same square) I first went to Present Darkness and discovered I needed a dagger. I then accessed the new quest line and spoke to Carris who waxed quite lyrical about the beauty of the dagger. I returned to present darkness to discover I was still lacking the dagger I had so proudly shown off to Carris. After some fumbling I found the recipe and all is well. However it appears that the conversation with Carris is out of step (i.e. I should have invented it before she could swoon over it).

It won't happen to everyone, but if fixing the trigger is easy ...

Cheers

Hope this helps some peeps,

Cheers,

Same issues here. Laaag, cloudflare/bad gateway errors.

Oddly 'issitedownrightnow' reports no issues.

*Edit*: Forums (i.e. here) also laggy but no bad gateways yet.

Definitely seeing an overall slight improvement, although it doesn't appear consistent (still occasionally very laggy).. Haven't noticed any repeatable hang points (yet :P)

Keep diggin' and thank you!!

#1008429 Titan Design Contest 2022

Posted by LordOfRuin on 02 October 2022 - 12:20

 Name: The Devastated Liege

Classification: Undead

Lore: Once the ruler of a prosperous fiefdom in the heartlands of Erildath, he ruled wisely for many years but sired no heir. As he grew older he became concerned for the future of his land and subjects. Eventually, seeing no other choice, he hesitantly consulted a powerful necromancer who promised to give him everlasting life in exchange for his soul, to which he reluctantly agreed. What the necromancer failed to tell him was that his life would be extended by the consumption of the souls of his subjects. His fiefdom quickly fell to ruin as his subjects died in order to sustain him. Watching this happen, knowing he had caused it, drove him insane. He fled the devastated remains of his once great land as the last of his subjects died and now roams the lands of Erildath laying waste to all he sees, provoking all and sundry, desperately hoping to meet a warrior powerful enough to end his eternal suffering and torment.

Physical Description: A huge skeletal, ethereal figure, towering over even men on horseback, wisps of otherworldly smoke rising from the tattered edges of his spectre.

#1008175 Game Update v3.9 / App Update v1.2

Posted by LordOfRuin on 20 August 2022 - 11:26

I have to say - without booster counting to Fatality.. I may not live long enough to even get halfway!!!

Edit - just crunched some rough numbers...  ~1500 years to complete Fatality assuming 25 events a year - even the largest guilds are gonna take decades at that rate

With GB counting its still over 20 years.... The largest guilds might achieve it in a few years with GB counting and all 120 members going at it.....

Edit #2 - if HCS want it to be a long term target, perhaps toggle GB on but 5 kill mobs still only count as one kill (multiplied by booster) towards the achievement combined with a suitable reduction in target?

#1008052 We Must Be Due Another......

Posted by LordOfRuin on 28 July 2022 - 09:08

I know this is an old thread (nice bump micheal65) but I have to agree with C4 and the small number of players saying positive things about Karthik and Xinderoth. A story arc/questline or two that actually required some thinking, planning and analysis to complete efficiently. A nice change from what has effectively become levelling with a WIN button (anyone remember suicide setups and changing gear every few levels?). Composed potions and new(er) buffs have made levelling completely unchallenging.

I for one would love to see somthing challenging rather than just mash my WIN button until I get a reward.

IMO it should not be at EOC but a gateway added to e,g Cathedral of Ways or low-level realms leading to level/quest restricted realms (much like e.g. Rosmeriat and Springtime Forest etc.). Rosmeriat was great new content but the questlines were fairly simple, and unlinked.

Here's hoping the Cows can find time to do something like this. And, of course, if you don't like it just don't do it...

#1005104 Proposed Loyalty Update.

Posted by LordOfRuin on 09 September 2021 - 09:06

My tuppenceworth:

The potions at level 200 with multiple buffs - fair enough, one can buff higher levels, but not everyone has access to a fair priced L80 composer. You could even make the Level 225 or 250 and increase cost to generate a little more interest across the board.

High level doublers? Cool, but underpriced if they are more powerful Epic Chests.

Dist 250, and Lib/AL at 900/1000 (whichever way round it is) - don't be ridiculous... That's one big fat WIN button right there. HUGELY overpowered and cheaper than all those lovely epic chests that will no longer be purchased. These potions need level reducing and cost increasing, otherwise all those chests people paid for will be rendered overpriced junk (comparatively speaking) and donators will be queueing up for refunds.

If you are going to continue down this path can we have SH1500, KE2500 etc? (yes, this is a joke).

HCS: you REALLY need to rethink this - WIN buttons are not a good thing. Also - if players can get the best potions available for tokens... Why would they ever donate?

in gvg,the defending guild may have 1 player to complete conflict against 1 target. too high deflect, would burden defender.

while attacker chooses guild, targets, time, and # of completes, and attackers also get to use defensive buffs. the attacking guild is more likely to have deflect since it knows time of attack.

Fair point, however GvG is only one aspect of the game... biasing all aspects in favour of the attacker seems a little like overkill... Perhaps it could be coded to cap for GvG defence. My point is if you are rolling back (not just capping) defensive buffs, allowing offensive buffs to continue increasing is a little unfair to the defender. Just looking for a balanced playing field rather than the tilting table it has become.

#1003628 Stam Overflow

Posted by LordOfRuin on 14 April 2021 - 14:53

Just to be clear - this is not for me, but for those have say 8-10k (or less) max stam (perhaps even up to 25k), and do not have the resources to buy 2k+ max stam daily... Not everyone can afford to dump $$$$$$ into the game... These players are losing overflow, whilst people with larger stam banks (myself included) just fill up. This has a consideral potential to drive people away from the game. Whilst I agree that players with larger banks have worked hard to achieve them, losing players over a lag issue that has lasted quite a while is an undesirable outcome.

EDIT: It also seems a little unfair to expect ANY players to use their own resources to counter an issue caused by an update...

I like the idea of a (small) percentage of overflow transferring to Reserve, but I think it has been suggested before and nixed by HCS.

#1003621 Stam Overflow

Posted by LordOfRuin on 14 April 2021 - 13:10

Due to the ongoing lag issues I am certain that many players are hitting their max stam and 'overflowing' due to the fact that hunting is impossible and lag makes many other aspects of the game very difficult.

I feel that this could be highly destructive for the game, and many players will up and leave, or at least play less. Any new players will also lose interest very quickly.

While this may suit certain players I feel that players with small stam banks are suffering disproportionately due to the lag - does anyone have any (SENSIBLE) suggestions as to how to compensate these players or at least keep them interested in the game? Would a cutoff be needed, or a sliding scale? How would it work? Ideas please, I hate to see this game shrink.

I realise that I will get shot down for this by players with a personal animus against me or personal reasons for wanting a smaller player base, but I hope there are enough fair-minded players out there to prevent the game dying a little more.

PS - before the usual crew suggest it... PvP is not a solution for everyone.. Some people just don't want to play that way... And I repeat what I have said in other discussions that involve PvP in some way, I like PvP - I have medals and everything... - but realise others do not.

#1003405 Game Update v3.1.0

Posted by LordOfRuin on 31 March 2021 - 18:07

annoyance or a bother is a problem. a small problem but still a problem.

No, that is why we have more than one word - accuracy of description

concern was with a few buffs, better to cap those buffs.

            CAP - exactly.. NOT rollback

the argument being made is: it matters bc it doesn't matter.
the counter-argument: example of negative affect and possible solution.

Not entirely sure what you mean by this - it is certainly not the argument I am making - perhaps a response to a different post?

"annoying" sounds problematic, so problem solved.

Problematic is problematic, annoying is just that... an annoyance, nothing more

#1003397 Game Update v3.1.0

Posted by LordOfRuin on 31 March 2021 - 16:14

Thanks for the update and fixes Cows, however:

I am NOT a fan of rolling back buff levels that have been available for YEARS based on the continuous complaints of a handful of players (the same few names complain about this relentlessly).... The silent majority appear to be happy with them (yes, I could be wrong, but if they were unhappy they probably wouldn't be so silent).... Please rollback these rollbacks as they just pander to handful of players that want the game to be built around what THEY want, not what the majority are happy enough with to not complain...

PS - before anybody lays into me about pvp - I have spent plenty of time on the ladder and annoying as deflect/fumble 192 wee they were equally available to everyone... Rolling back is akin to starting on the path to a WIN button - how long before there are demands to nerf protective buffs entirely? *rolls eyes*
