Love
Love is a cat
warm, cozy
sleeping contentedly, purring in a sunlit room
Love is a rose
drenched with morning dew
but.....
Love is pain
agonizing, gut-wrenching
Soul-shattering pain
to love is to need
to leave oneself open to injury
love is vulnerability
Love
Love is a white dove
alight on a windowsil
grab it
break its wings
tear out its heart
watch it bleed
then weep as it withers and turns to ash, to dust
scattered on the wind
Love.....
Love is a bouquet of flowers
placed on a grave
as a reminder of what once was
or what might have been
Love is a smile, a wink, a sigh
a seductive fragrance or voice
a flickering flame
a taste.....
Love is a million, billion, trillion things
and slips through your fingers if you let it
like sand in an hourglass
and you ask, "where did it go?"
Love
What is Love to me?
neither friend nor foe
but a noding acquaintance
I can take it or leave it
I'd rather take it
out for tea, maybe
with cherry cheesecake
and sweet onion crisps
and naughty bits
love.....
