Mages are casters, so staff is the weapon of choice. Some might even argue that magic is supposed to be cast bare-handedly. Staff for caster is still more logical than for example daggers for ranger who never use melee attacks.

 

Sure having 1 handed weapons give a small advantage compared to those who are stuck using only 2 handed, easier to get the rolls you want on infernal weapons and flexibility to change to 1h weapon + shield set-up for more defense. But then again mages get advantages on other areas.

 

If staffs were 1h weapons I'd totally go for dual wield with random sword for super gandalf battle mode! But I guess that won't happen anytime soon.

This is a dumb question... before mage weps were hybrid we would have to use melee stuff with mage gems lol....

There will never be a mage 1h ascended because there was never a mage design for 1h's, its not in the mage tree for shields, its just a player design.

all can say, for this finaly added hybered weapon to few complain for lack `1-h weapon as far as Fabled best weapon in game.

Thus Staff is basic weapon for sayed class, No intent for 1-h hybered thought Dev changed there minds added them.

 

So fill luck get hybered weapon option now.

 

Asking for fabled basicly not line with basic weapon combo option in time with lvl 50 content that more free time work on minu aspec of game other then over kill need update's. Might see fabled hybered weapons.
