Planks should stack equal to or greater then logs.

All gathered resources use 2:1 when being processed.  To change this, especially for only a single resource, would require a lot of effort rebalancing the skills.

 

We just have to accept that in this world the wood is very poor quality.  So to make timber, you need two logs, using the sap to attach the good pieces together.
