Well, we all know how annoying the over-head camera view is. Not sure if everyone here is familiar with runescape, but the camera angle there lets you "get behind" quite comfortably behind your character. Now, I have read here somewhere that this was a bit of an issue with the developers because doing that requires more polygons to be drawn (or something), which requires more graphical capabilities on the player's computer.

Well, in runescape, when the camera angle in behind the character, you would expect to see very far out. However, that's not the case! You just see a white fog far out and are essentially drawing out the same "polygons" or whatever. This fixes the annoying over-head camera issue and does not require more polygons to be rendered, etc. Plus, it creates a more immersive feeling.

Camera view is fine for me now, after a few days playing I got used to it. I have never played the game you mention, but my guess is lots of people on Eldevin have... and they just need time to adjust  :)

As Mongo said, it takes time to adjust. Personally I was fine with it from logging in for the first time.

It seems many people are coming here expecting this game to be like Runescape (I've seen many, many posts with the game named in them lol).

At this moment in time the camera angle is most likely not going to be altered again, they already added an extra 5 degrees. It was said that it will drop the frame rate, or cause server lag. I forgot exactly, but more degrees = game less playable. Of course they might change things around in the future.

I nerd up Runescape daily ;) and at first when I started Eldevin it was fairly irritating not being able to look in front/behind you, but I got used to it and barely noticed it after a while. If I didn't play RS so much I don't think I would have noticed it at all

I also think the current camera angle is fine, but sometimes I feel that I want to look at my character's face or armor form close and I can't because the camera angle won't allow it. The only time you see your face is when creating the character...

While it did take some getting used to, I find the existing angle to be perfectly fine.

Mish, you mention that sometimes you would like to see your character up close?  Perhaps some kind of character viewing interface would solve that; something similar to the view we get when first creating a character.

I think the camera angle has quite a bit to do with the Java engine.
It will not let you see far off into the distance because it is likely loading that area you are running toward several frames beyond your actual viewing distance. It is an open world game running entirely in a browser... And it does it very well.

Yes, that would do the job just fine. :)

If i zoom out (scroll down with mousewheel) the page also moves downwards, e.g. the text that explains all the buttons will appear higher and the top part of the game falls of the screen. If i then zoom in, page scrolls back up. But i see they are already aware of this.

Second problem with the camera i have is that the camera is only at a very high angle, so it is difficult to look around, since you can only  see 2 meters forward.

I agree. That's what annoys me.
