I know you all don't want to be stuck reading a long, drawn out forum post so i'll get straight to the point.
I held a 3v3 earlier on trappers atoll and numerous things were wrong with it, direct quote from other forum post:

Spawns. The spawns are too random and TA is a huge map. if everyone spawned on the north end every time during that, it wouldnt have been so bad. teams were scrambling to regroup and fight over and over.
Rules. I admit, this was poorly thrown together, it was just meant to be a test to see how things would go. There needs to be more rules such as you have 40 sec to get back past boundary or 1 point deducted, no passing boundary or 1 deducted etc etc and they need to be watched closely
I liked each team having a seperate scorekeep. that worked quite well but one supreme ref wouldve been good too.
Too many spectators. about 10+ people were there watching everyone and they got in the way and trolled etc
The biggest thing was the sheer size of the map and the spawns, if that was made different somehow, it would've been a lot cleaner. I really think that HCS should put in private pvp lobbies that DO NOT give XP, or valor. so people could have 3v3s, 2v2s, 4v4s, 5v5s, etc. all at their own liberty, creating their own teams.

Anyway, it was overall a really fun experience, and I hope that in the near future we can do a more cleaner version of it again.

In short: I think HCS should add private lobbies for people to host their own events and such, trappers is just too big for certain things.

I could agree with this, though I think it needs to be thought out a little more. I see you put some thought into it by saying the private matches will not give experience or valor. Good, that stops people from exploiting it for their own benefit. You've also mentioned rules; what if other teams want different rules. That would be more for HCS to do and change. Also, what about a map, what kind of map would it be? A small one like the arena in EC? Or maybe as big as trappers atoll? Personally, a nice middle would be Runescape's Duel Arena, they have the rules you can set, the wagers you can make, and the different area types you can play. Though, I believe it was only a 1v1 instance.

Something like that would be great, but now we've got to think about teams, how will that work? Let's say we go with RS's Duel Arena type scenario, you have to challenge people right? Well.. what if that person was in a group, and you were not? Would it still challenge them,  or would it simply say that you should consider finding some friends to back you up, not like Hot Tub Time Machine. What if you have two groups there of five, and the leader (the only one who can challenge others) challenges just a group member, and not the leader? Well, personally here I believe it should still notify the group leader with the challenge.

What about wagers, if any, personally.. I like putting cash on the table for events, I believe it makes me, and everyone else try their best to get that reward. If I told you to go clean my car, and offered no reward would you try? Or even do it? Now, if I told you to go clean my car, and offered a million dollars, would you? Of course you would, you want that reward right? I hope you all understood my point there.

Now; what about the map? Probably the hardest part of it all, for me at least in game design honestly, what do we want it to be like, if everyone accepts this idea? Small, big, or medium? Maybe different areas? You guys decide, I've gave you too much to read anyways haha.

Let me prove my point again, first one to find my movie reference somewhere, anywhere in this post and comment it below will get a reward from me personally in game.
