Shields are for pussies so I destroyed it instead of taking it when my invo was full. Turns out I need it for a quest to progress. I tried buying a normal shield and it doesn't work.

this is posted in the game bug section and should be posted in the game help section but that said, is this the quest where you are in the army barracks and have to retrieve the shield on the table to give back to the resurrection npc ?

 

  If it is then just go back upstairs to that room and pick it up again, you need that one since it's a quest drop not an actual item you can use or replace via buying it at a market npc or other way.   

 

  if you don't see another one ( I always just did the quest so have no idea what happens with that particular item if you npc it), try going back to the npc you got the quest from and click on them to see if the npc says something which may help you retrieve a new one.
