ok, so hear me out.

First, I mean no ill will in any way towards how the titans were updated to allow them to spawn more often. It was a nice change.

 

But.

 

Its caused a fairly large flood over time of epics in general. The seasonals are fine, as they hold their value and most arent common, or at least arent super common. Yet.

 

The problem with the flood is that: A) there are almost 2-3X the number of the epics (for each epic that isnt seasonal or invented) as there are active players at this point. B) Its destroyed pretty much all the value of most epics in the long run. and C) A lot of guilds are probably just building up a pile of "worthless" epics since they cant figure out what to do with them since they dont really sell often.

 

Granted, this mostly applies to any epics under i'd say... 3-400? most active players at this point are around 5-600+ imo, but i know there are lower level actives out there.

 

But the sheer amount of epics in general makes them kinda, well, less epic.

 

What ideas can we come up with to solve this problem? I know in the past people have suggested tier-ing epics, especially since the tiered inferno and steam curiass, but its been shot down repeatedly. and understandably so. but we need some way to recycle all these floating epics, so to speak. i dont really have an idea at the moment but i thought id at least throw this out and see what others might think.


Gold / Kill peaks at about Level 310 or so - and then drops again twice - once at 1601 (from average 300g / kill with no doubler/mer/th to 250g / kill) and then again at at 1626 (down another 50g / kill to an average of 200g / kill)

Supply > Demand

Simple solution ? - folk stop hunting them. Stock stays static or low levels can hunt their own more easily.

 

Will something else happen ? - who knows. VERY little happens in the game now 'cos the app seems to be the b-all and end-all of any/all development (be that for the better or worse - we all have our opinions)

Yea, i understand that. [insert app statement here], that aside i just get bummed that they just seem like unique gear now lol. Unfortunately i dont see the hunting stopping anytime soon since some are after medals, while others are after the somewhat-still-valuable ones. *chuckles* but really im just beating a dead horse (cow?) at this point probably

Yes, find something that you enjoy to play. Do it. Keep expectations low and disappointment will be averted. There is already lots to do. New in-game profits, however, remain elusive.

Tiered epics would be one possible solution. Just make them have maybe 3 tiers instead of 5 like the current ones. Increase the stam gain/xp gain (or maybe just increase the max stam a hell of a lot, I dunno but something needs to be done).

 

Or make it possible to decompose epics into epic fragments or tokens that you can exchange for nice pots. Something must be done though, I saw a crafted Fuvayu rune in AH for 4 fsp the other day. 3,000 titan kills for a rune you can sell for 4 fsp? It's a farce.

 

To be honest there's so many aspects of the game that need some sort of revamp. Arena, PvP, titan hunting. Starting to think that there is no plan to look into these game aspects whatsoever. It's a shame really. Maybe after this app is released (how long til it's released now?) there'll be some sort of improvement, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Increasing the composing level and allowing epics to be fragged is 1 way to go about it. Then you could add some new composed buffs as well.

 

Tiering could continue to work and would bolster the inventing market for items. But in the end, its a band aid since eventually the tiered epics will be common as well. If you put a ridiculously low rate of success say 5% to invent a higher stam gain / higher max stam epic.

 

Overall, titans outside of seasonals have been dead in value in 3-6 months after titan doubler came out. 

 

One last point ... this isn't the first thread and probably won't be the last thread talking about how common epics are becoming / depressed value of epics. 

 

I agree with previous posters .. lets put a time table on yourself to actually get the mobile app done and released. Do you really want this to turn into Eldevin which took 10-11 years to release?
