Well, players' stam got wasted on titans, LEs, quests, etc... However we have to move on anyway, I think the next event will be the double XP one around Christmas

You lowered personal targets and raised the overall target. Released new titans and new quests and still expect people to use all of their stamina on the global event (killing only emaciated fellows which would yield the most kills). I don't know anymore...

He's just sour at us over obvious things... He's been name calling and acting immature ever since. His posts are quite entertaining though at the very least. The rest of his guild is very respectable though good bunch.

Congrats to all who achieved the free Silver Tier rewards.  Special thanks and congrats out to all those crazy people in the top 100 who blew away anybody else with more than 125,000 smacks and got "rewarded" with the top tier chests. I'm too lazy to add up, but I kind of wonder if they are all responsible for one entire tier, lol.

 

I get the vibe that overall, the overall event was well received. Are we really going to decide based on the Community Tier we got? 

 

For me, no. In fact, I'm not even disappointed. I did NOT actually see much Community spirit directed at the Global Event itself, but I did see tons of people happy with Zombie Brews that again contributed to the GE. 

 

The base scenario is that one has to choose their priorities. I did. I reached my max stam of 18k and then logged almost 47k kills thanks to using three (yes, 3) GE pots. I hit keys for well over 10 hours during the event. Not a single moment of that was "really" dedicated to the community. I chose what I wanted to do this time and did it. I could have gotten more hits (dang noobishness also due to priorities) even doing just what I was doing. Had I been full-on community (with a little "selfish" top 100 thrown in), I would have logged over 200k hits. I didn't, that wasn't my choice.

 

It's natural. Quests, Titans, Zombie Brews, leveling, PvPing, and the list goes on and on... People decide what they want to do. 

 

If you're unhappy with the tier we reached... well, there's always next year to better plan your community strategy. ,oP

 

Again, thanks HCS for the event and prosperous smacking to everybody who are still fighting it out with the Titans or doing quests! (o0

If they raise the needed number of kills to 25k, I'll need to work harder. Good thing I add base stam every hunt. Growing slow is ok with me because I'm on a slow boat to EOC anyway. lol

Thanks to Microsoft Excel, I have that total.

The Top 100 players made 21,280,413 kills.

The goal was 75,000,000; each tier was 15,000,000.

We didn't quite make it to the Gold tier, so we made under 45,000,000 kills total.

Therefore, the Top 100 players made at least 47% of the total kills which were made this event.

This also means that the Top 100 made 28.37% of the total community goal.

If you only hit the Emaciated Fellow (counts as 5 kills), that's only 5k actual kills, which is usually the individual goal on other events.

This is one of my biggest beefs with THIS particular event .. BigGrim has promised in the past that we would have hidden targets so that the people that did more than minimum but not top 100 would not feel so jilted... it was just untrue.

There is a WORLD of difference between SAYING something will change and it ACTUALLY changing.

I really see no problem with the Silver Chests, yeah, they'll be wasted, but that is not the problem.

The Global itself was very bad planned.

HCS looked at the total kills of the last GE and used it to raise this goal, but the last event was so high because the critters dropped really nice Frag Stashes, so people killed a LOT just to get the frags, not the Global.

This Global we had 0 critters dropping frags, and we had new Titans, ZBs, Quests and LEs...

On the individual thingie (if you're not already skipping my entire post, you can skip the following three paragraph "preview" to get to my opinion and if you really, really what to avoid the typical Egami diatribe, you could just drop down to the bold, lol)... 

 

Preview: Somebody up there made a great point that 75 million divided by 5 based on Emaciated was 15 million. I really like the point -like really, really, and I think I even "liked it"- lol. Even so, I don't think that's a good measure. It's not straight up because I believe we tend to concentrate a bit more on stam. There are tons of other variables, but I'd just remind people that Emaciated does have the Hypnotize enhancement... so, well, yeah. Let's make it simpler:

 

The Free Roaming Vapors have a 46 First Strike enhancement. So for a one hit, you'd be better off stam-wise to hit the Pesky Spook. 

 

Does that make it simpler? Regardless, it doesn't make it relevant for the actual point, but I just love to remind people to think about creature stats and enhancements, lmao.

... I'm not very key on upping the minimum. It's totally a personal and debatable opinion. There are plenty that simply do the minimum, but we can't forget about players that don't have too much stam. Again, it's everybody's decision what to do. But based on Enhancements, I'm not too sure that the 5 hit possibility is a straight up calc. 

 

Regardless, and if I step back, I don't know how many actual people play FS. But I "assume" (yeah, yeah, I know what they say about that) that there is some calc involved regarding that data. So, in my opinion only, if every single active player in the game did only the minimum... then I'd think it might be over-generous to give the FS Community even the first tier. Everyone out for themselves and we still get a prize in a Community event? Hmmm... 

 

The point: upping the minimum to get the overall Community a better prize doesn't seem, to me, to be very logical. For me (has everyone noticed how I continue to emphasize that this is just the way I personally see it? lmao), the GE is a Community event that requires the Community to work together.

 

So just maybe, people are apt to do the minimum number of kills just because... sure. This time they got "screwed" (I actually don't believe that) because they did the minimum and only got the silver tier prizes. Some of them actually wait until the end and base the kills on what they think the Community will get. 

 

My personal logic says that the key to getting the top tier in a "Global Event" is to inspire the Community to work together towards that goal. How much effort the FS Community puts in is what should determine the prize.

Folk just had other priorities. The overall kill count was up somewhat from previous Halloween globals, but it's MEANT to be a challenge after all.

The figures for last year werent on the wiki unfortunately, but as you can clearly see - the kill count WASN'T unattainable - we just chose to focus on other things this time around.
