I honestly can't remember a post I disagreed with more than this.

Let's take a hypothetical poll of EOC people:

Would you rather EOC be the current 3100, or would you rather have  an additional 50 levels of grimnok's giant potato content?

What percent do you think would choose 3100? I think it's the minority, maybe I'm wrong.

Add in a third option.

Or would you rather HCS not cut corners, ruining the game and release 50 levels of quality content.

I can guarantee the outcome of that poll.

That's the same as option 1.

Or in other words, you could phrase the poll would you rather have 200 levels of normal content every 6 months, or would you rather have 200 levels of normal content and 100/150/200 levels of additional 'uncreative' content?

Clearly, the current content is not enough.

It's not the same as option 1.

My option is basically, "Would you like HCS to release BETTER QUALITY content, more frequently."

Giving the devs license to dramatically decrease quality should never even be thought of!

The correct answer is quality over quantity, EVERY time.

On the other hand, my solution does not compel anyone to work harder as yours does. Which is really the point, for whatever reason, the cows are not releasing enough content. I would wager most people, don't care what the name of random creature for level 3086 is, or what it looks like.

When 150+ people are at EOC, there is a problem. There are multiple solutions, obviously. Put more staff-hours into content, lower the quality of content, so you can make more content; or as often mentioned, develop mechanics for a character reset.

So instead of going straight to the worst case scenario, demand better service.

The other problem with ideas such as yours is its a slippery slope, and I'm sure you know just as well as I do that HCS is really bad at not falling down slippery slopes.

We go through content so fast that I'm not sure the quality content would be appreciated unless things are slowed down.

IMHO, I think things should be made mega hard (going forward). Make it GOD levels. Change the formula - make it so we can't fly through levels. 50k stam gets you maybe 5 levels with all the lvl 500 super buffs.

Or take the easy way and recycle content... use the existing maps but make all the monsters invisible... 3101 Invisible GOD rat. 3102 invisible GOD native, etc ;-p (voila - 6200 levels!)

What can you do when FS is a one man show that occasionally *very rarely* hires in contractors *hoof, zorg etc*.

suggestion..

take the best content that there was back in the days..  the more quality one..  the more exciting one...

copy paste it to the 3000+ standards adjusting the values..  and release it...

this way u have quality..  tested enviroment.. and quantity..
and as it's just copy-paste mainly..  u can add 1-2 more new "elements" on this re-new content to make it really new and not just
re-play content...

xidnerot renew..  (and make AM 500 not applicable)
kartack renew..
Liska renew...

@ice: I didn't "like" this post but I do like it.... to a degree.

Let me preface by saying that I can fully understand your frustration. I want to emphasize that this isn't my sarcastic, cynical side. You have some extremely valid points.

That said, I'm going to provide some counterpoints. And that said, I don't mean for those to undermine your point. I do support, to a degree, your point of view; I'd just like to provide the alternative point of view.

It's not meant to, necessarily, undermine your point.

Congrats, you've been here 9 years. That definitely takes some doing.

I too have been here 9 years. I'm nowhere near EOC and have never strived to be. I'm a frigging FS addic, which could definitely be argued to be a mentally deranged thing. I think my max time without logging in is two weeks.

The point? I've found other sources of entertainment in FS.

Is that a conclusive argument for "something"? Definitely not.

Let's avoid all the crap about why the game has supposedly gone downhill. Tons of players love to talk one-sided, completely ignoring what they know nothing about. Let me be clear... this is a preface and has zero to do with your post... I just see the same thing coming forth and hoped to avoid it.

According to your post, there are 170 players in the entire game that can be considered close to EOC. I just took a gander and saw that there are 355 online.

That seems to be like a low number (let's forget that's it's Tuesday and late night), but now you begin to understand the reasoning for my preface... and I continue.

Let us now assume that all 170 of your identified players near EOC are online.

355 minus 170 = 185.

So, assuming your 170 are online 24/7... that's about 48% of the supposed FS population. Forget about the questionable numbers of FS players and blah, blah, blah.

You yourself state that the number of "EOC players" has risen from 50 to 170 in a year. I have no idea if that is even true, but it does definitely seem to counter your argument as far as statistics are concerned.

You then come to the conclusion that of those 170 players at or near EOC that they will lose interest because of the lack of content.

I have a really difficult time buying into that argument since one must assume that a good portion of that less than 50% of online population (and I chuckle) are people who really care about EOC and want to be the highest level possible.

Having been here nine years like myself, I'm sure you've had the chance to see what happens there, but, just in case: I've seen people sublevel like mad to get to the top. Content was not an issue for that competition. Just something to keep in mind.

CONCLUSION:

I do not AT ALL agree with HCS' business plan "as I have observed it". That however is a subjective opinion and company execs are the only ones who can decide on that. It's a moot point.

From the numbers, I don't think "level-increasing" content is an issue. I did like several posts suggesting that higher quality content, as opposed to copy-paste ideology, would be a plus.

That applies only to content however.

Looking back, a lot has gone on in game. Composing, various events, etc. I have to admit that I think that the Daily Quests (which probably needs a name change to "Daily Challenges" or "Daily Missions" to avoid the typical negative feedback which I agree with) is yet another move in the right direction.

I think focusing on content for content's sake is a major error which many in this thread have pointed out.

I get that all you might be interested in is leveling and EOC... but based on your own numbers, you are definitely in the minority.

That is not to say that your opinion is irrelevant. I too believe that content is important. But like many have said, I'd prefer quality over quantity.

I'd also highlight rowbeth's post #13. Things are not what they seem.

Could they be improved? For sure.

Prosperous smacking everybody! (o0

I adore this idea.

If you big guys had something to sink your teeth into, something that made you have to stop and think and wrap your head around it, maybe you wouldn't be so bored. If it took you more than 15 minutes to whip out 20+ levels, you wouldn't be so bored.

This is the only game I play that a level doesn't take forever to complete (on one it takes roughly 10 days to complete just 1 level) I find that much more frustrating that worrying that I'll reach the party at the end of the Universe on FS.

Hoof used to tell us to go outside and play when the complaining and whining got to a dull roar. Maybe that's what we really need to do.

Yeah, I know, you've sunk in a lot of cash and time and what not, well, so have I. It's your entertainment budget..... There's only a couple of games that I know of that has lived as long as FS, people (I cannot say what they are because they are not cow owned and operated), and neither have as much rich and diverse content as FS. They do have a bit more fancy graphics, but that stuff is fluff. Basically their new content is the same old stuff, over and over and over, wash rinse, repeat....

Is that what you really want guys? Just recycle the old with more bigger rats and deserts and plains of a different color?

I don't have any ideas here, I have become too old and fat to care. When I feel like I want a little more oomph, some bells and whistles, I wander to one of those other games with autoplay, cute music and anime toons for characters, where it takes over a week to complete just 1 level..... Then I come back to the familiar world of FS......

Just one old lady's opinion

The idea of creating a God side of the game was talked in the past by Doom I believe, but he called it 'Dark' instead of 'God', and I think that's a great idea.

Just add a level cap, like 3.500, then give us a really big and important Quest to do, then you'll, I don't know, die in process and restart the game at level 1* (*means reseted), give some bonus for that player (keep all the buffs, add more buffs for * players, give extra LUP, special gear, special Titans to hit...Things like that), or you win the final Quest and enter into the God level, you keep your level at 3501 and re-do the game, but now the God side of the Mountain Path is a level 3501 realm, make a portal into the Mountain Path for you to travel between Normal and God realms...

I really think the game need something to cap an end, a target for everyone...

I'm working on the content quests to get caught up with the levels released for the Double XP event. Then it's content and also preparing to get ready for Christmas.

Preferably a primary damage, no-weapon set, so it's usable for leveling. SE sets haven't been good for leveling since Destroyer was the new hotness.
