I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere. Oranges are listed on their information pop-up window as replenishing less health and mana than cherries, which are a tier below them in level required to forage and to eat.

I haven't actually timed this, but it feels like the orange takes longer then the cherry to replenish. It may actually be doing the listed rates.
