This is completely false information, I can100% guarantee that animal magentism works with the global event creatures, I've used it in every event I've participated in, to great effect.

Sure makes the rest of the comments suspect. So since the portion about am is completely false, can you shed light on impact of reckoning?

I can't I'm sorry. One of the buffs I tend to use, but not really pay attention to. It has benefits, but they're too random for me to take any real notice of. :(

I don't use it on global events though, even when running a high conserve. This doesn't mean it doesn't work though, just not something I ever think about.

reckoning works ;) if it didn't that would mean it doesn't work all together, outside the global quest

Maybe the Ruby Tier is so high because HCS want to give only 6 or less chests, I'll not complain about it, I've only hunted one time since the last GE, receive 10 of this will makes me upgrade my BP  :P

10 chest will be great for those little guys which hunt every week, but for most of us 6 is more than enough :)

Wasn't expecting another Global Event quite so soon, but it's nice to see.

It's been said before, and I'm going to suggest it one more time.  It would be nice if there were some way for an individual's participation in a specific GE to be publicly available.  Either through some kind of badge displayed on his profile page, or a temporary medal (which would then disappear when the GE was over), or something similar.

For some, this would be a badge of honor, for others one of shame.  Others won't care about it one way or the other.  But I think a lot of the whining that always comes out in this forum will be easy to spot for what it is when it's coming from someone who has barely qualified bronze.

Made some significant changes to the wiki page this morning,  Anyone who has tried to edit it recently has probably seen the warning message that the wiki software generates, warning that the page is too big and that some browsers will not be able to handle it properly.  Accordingly, I've broken out the past results into their own pages.  Hope that this makes accessing information on the current event easier and faster, while all of the other info that used to be there is just a click away.

Buffs (pots for higher level buffs) for global events are

- Animal Magnetism

- Conserve

- Reckoning

- Global Booster

Don't use Lightfoot or Goldfoot, they just distract the chance of reckoning activating on AM & CONS which means you get the re-spawn of the creature with AM activating

Reckoning does affect AM and CONS

HELLOO!  First off thank you for the event to help me up my medals.  LOL with that said, and im trying to word this to not sound negative, lol, but the total to reach ruby is much higher than the reward to achieve it.  YES we do get 10 chests!! VERY cool...but the chest contain only two choices.  Sadly, the drive ratio to the reward is not equal.  I do qualify in all these events and have been in top 100 so i do my best each GE, but this event is only for my medal.  I thoroughly enjoy playing FS.  I donate and am a daily player.  My guild works hard to help community achieve our ruby tier, but the chest incentives are what drive most and a suggestion would be for maybe being in the top 100 on an event like this with only two options in the chest would be in the future to have "special chests" for top 100/10 to drive the burning of our leveling/pvp/titan stam as a reward.  I do not expect those with 50K+ stam to have to save us.  But THANK YOU COWS for events that bond the community.  Happy hunting to all!

you mean last event or last time this particular global was around ...because if it was last event that would be because the reward was worth the effort this time it isnt..there will be plenty ppl like me who would have no use at all for theses chests so there is no incentive to use high value pots ...now if there had been an am 500 in there would of jumped on this because sitting on the same spot spam killing them i could of put up with but wondering around a realm killing stuff for a reward i will never use just doesnt do it for me

http://wiki.fallensw..._Quest_29-03-12

The Fallen Sword Community achieved the Crystal Tier with a total of 6,128,675 kills (bolded in the above table).

When this Global Quest began, the number of kills required to reach each tier was 2,000,000. This was lowered to 1,500,000 on day two of the event.

BG, sorry if I make myself sound wrong, but i'm very gratefull for the event :)

But yes, the numbers are very bigger than the last event, I mean, than the last Darksun Dragon event, Global Booster makes the things easier, but the stamina is almost the same, I don't believe we gonna achieve Ruby this time, not even with one day more, but will be good prizes anyway :)

I find it funny all these people saying it is not worth there stamina and time for potions that wont greatly

benifit themselfs and say they have no intention of joining in.Yet when there beastly potions the same people whine about members not joining in the help rather selfish i think.

I really wish these potions weren't bound. I will do my share of kills. I don't have any use for the potions. I would love to be able to have them guild tagged so somebody could get some use out of them.

Having them guild tagged instead of bound is a great option ... you just chose at the time of taking them from your mailbox :)

Eddie Izzard : The National Rifle Association say that guns don't kill people, people do. But I think the gun helps, you know ? I think it helps. I think just standing there going "BANG" - that's not going to kill too many people, is it ?

Wouldn't having them guild tagged allow players to untag them and sell them?

This is the outline on the post so you can skip to whatever based on what your interested in:

First is my response to wil about his opinion on why gold sinks might not be positive. This is most likely the part you can just skip over.

Second is my response to Davros on what a gold sink is. This might be useful for people to understand the concept.

Third is my thoughts to HCS... probably the most relevant for this topic... hope BG and/or Hoof see it and hope FS Players read it and give their constructive opinions.

I agree wholeheartedly with most that you say mate apart from the gold sink part. Personally I hate gold sinks and they don't help the whole " community " as they dont help me. I like to buy gold to bolster the Guild coffers, others will as well I imagine. A constantly low Market Place makes this an expensive exercise. A low Market Place may help an individual player but it's not so sexy looking to a Guild. You can argue that members could pay a higher tax or hunt more often or donate more regularly. Aye right, demanding this of people who join a guild will guarantee you one thing...no members. You could argue that structures could be demolished to lessen the gold cost of upkeep. Yes, a Guild could do that but a Guild with very few structures doesn't look very attractive to prospective members. Another thing, a Guild having a healthy bank balance may just sway a player into deciding to join that Guild. So no, I don't believe continual gold sinks do help the entire community.

I'm sorry Egami, should I have pm'd you with this? tongue.png

And I apologise for this being ridiculously off topic but hey what can you do.

Thanks for the Global Event cows.

Cheers.

wil72

Yeah, you should have pmed me (just because I don't always pop in and when I do, I sometimes miss responses to moi personally)... thanks for responding btw... you helped me think outside the box and that's always a positive in my book, hehe. That said... if you pm me, I'll read it... I don't "always" respond back... so don't let the following deter you, lmao.

Your point is definitely interesting, but I kind of think the "from a Guild perspective" is a bit misleading. Let me highlight that this doesn't in any way whatsoever take the gusto out of your argument. My "assumption" is that your members sell FSP for gold upkeep and that's your main source of gold income. In that case, you "could" be right... in fact, you are "right" at current prices... at least inititially.

Unfortunately, your argument would then assume that having FSP going for 1 million gold a pop would be a positive.

In your case, it might be. There are too many variables, I think, to evaluate. Supply and demand, blah, blah, blah. I think even you, would say that 1 million gold would be "too much" for 1 FSP. Keep in mind that FS is a community... which inevitable effects you through the vicious circle, not to mention HCS.

There is however a bottom limit... 1 FSP = 50k gold via upgrade.

Now, that's twice what they were when I started (of course, that option wasn't even available). Without going even more geeky economic... your point may well be valid from a Guild perspective if all your gold is via FSP trades that are acquired via donations, be they out of pocket cash to HCS or cash to HCS via the Earn Points. If that is your "only" source of income, then it might be valid. I don't "think" that's how most of FS rolls... but, as usual, I could be wrong.

In your case, it means each member will have to evaluate whether they sell their buffs or items for gold (PvP risk taken into account) or if they hunt a bit more often to get the shiny payment and maybe even do it without the gold/XP trade off.

uh... and yeah, maybe this is off topic? But hey... let's shield ourselves in the fact that it's discussing what Guild Events are about, besides the Community coming together to achieve a goal... which brings me straight on to the following which is a lot more easily defendable as being on topic, lol.

Please do explain in this forum how this is a gold sink? was unbreakable buff banned or something?

I think I should point out here that my post that Davros was responding to perhaps didn't make the idea at all clear. I'm also assuming that he is commenting more on two general misconceptions of a "gold sink" that I actually happen to agree with. In any case, I'll respond to why it's a gold sink to him based on that assumption and then I'll respond on the common misconceptions that I'm "pretty sure" he's talking about.

1. Global booster. Regardless of how many people spend gold or loyalty tokens on these, I believe you will agree that at least some "portion" of the FS Community uses gold to buy them. Hence, gold sink. Please note: this is probably the shortest explanation I've ever given. Congrats! (o0

2. UB. Here you may have a point. Please note that I posted after the original when I found out GOLD IS BEING DROPPED BY THE CREATURES! HCS! WTF? lol. I noted in that post that I could well be wrong, but I was convinced they only gave minimal XP (well, at my level of course, lol). Hope HCS fixes that... If it wasn't like that before (though I swear it was) then I hope they change it.... with all the negative effects that will have. *sticks out tongue* ,oP

Due to the above, my assumption at the time may be null, but to respond to Davros. UB 175 at least does not 100% negate the need to repair which is a gold sink. You might argue that with loyalty points you can buy the UB 190, but it's kind of like #1. There will still be those that get Potion of Resilience (according to your take on Scavenging Caves being a gold sink... well, there you go). UB 175 will not fully negate your need to repair at times. Hence, gold sink.

Again, the fact that Global creatures are dropping gold could well negate my argument on this point.

ON THE MISCONCEPTIONS:

This is what I think Davros was really referring to:

3. Using up stam is not a gold "sink". It doesn't get gold out of the game. Just because 1 million stam is dumped on an event, instead of going to hunting, doesn't mean it takes gold out of the game. It's simply a very temporary price control as it blocks the "possibility" of more gold entering the game.

The logic is correct. Maybe we should start talking about a "gold block".

4. Same is true with the Sacrifice 400. It "sinks" zero gold. It only temporarily "blocks" gold influx... but with the secondary effect of the fact that at a higher level (received from the XP gained in exchanged for the prior gold loss) a player can then theoretically gain more gold.

To conclude:

Global events do NOT sink gold via the stam usage or the rewards. They do however sink gold via the purchases of global boosters bought with gold. The repair effect... I'm no longer sure on that.

The major reason I'm 100% for Global Events is not because they sink some gold or block some influx of gold, but simply because they give the EOC players something to do with their stam. Even if the aren't going for the top 100, several buff for free the GE hunting basics and some even spend their FSP to advertise that fact and also give advice/info on what to do.

I like the feeling of community it tends to increase... FS tends to increase its social aspects and I see that as a positive.

MORE ON TOPIC TO HCS:

I've seen BG's comment on the comparison in numbers to last GE's number of kills and the current level. I've seen the comparisons posted by players with respect to the last time this particular reward was offered and feel that is definitely a better comparison to use. With that intro, here's my thoughts:

1) I 100% agree that getting the Ruby Tier at no time should be easy... in fact, I would support this level or even more for some of the more "popular" rewards. Of course, I really loved seeing the Community spirit that went on in the (I believe) second-to-last GE... The FS community bounded together and even started offering up additional prizes to people reaching the top 100. I really liked the community response on that, even if it wasn't "entirely" altruistic... but hey... It did seem fun and interactive to me.

2) Despite several complaints about the prizes in this round... well... I think people are silly, lol. I think the prizes are great for lower levels or for "losers" like myself that will use them, rotfl.. Above and beyond that... the "less" desirable prizes might have an interesting effect on giving more of an opportunity to get in the top 100. With all the people who have said they're not going to participate (fully missing the community spirit of the issue... but, hey, to each their own), that might be a great opportunity to see others getting in the game precisely to get that medal. I'm curious to see the end result.

Wouldn't having them guild tagged allow players to untag them and sell them?

Made a comment earlier (much shorter than my normal ones, rotfl) that it would be a great idea if a Guild Bound (no untagging possibility) option was implemented along with the Composing pots.

I'm 100% against unbound, but agree that Guild Bound could be interesting.
