#1010376 GRP Update!

Posted by Spider0007 on 03 February 2024 - 15:52

https://forums.hunte...howtopic=78732

I'm the first comment and the last(update right after)

Because it is always the same people contributing for future contents, I still encourage everyone to at least try to ask their guild members to join the forums and give their comments because it is always the same passionate players.

Unfortunately the fact that many players don't post in forums any more is that it has proven to be a monumental waste of their time.  Just look at the detail in which Ryebred (and many others) went to years ago on the forum to try to improve GvG and the support it received only to go no where.  Many players have given up trying to help improve the game when only a certain few are listened to.

14:20 03/Feb/2024    nobrainer applied the Guild Reputation boost 'Fortune Pack D' to the Guild. buffs aren't activating

Are you serious?  You mean HCS didn't bother to test their new update? Now you have spent your preciously earned guild RP only to find out you get nothing in return? I can't believe this has happened!!! How unusual for this to occur when HCS issues an update.  Surely Hunted Cow Studios guild could have used a portion of their 231 Guild RP (not sure how they earned that since you can't even initiate a conflict against them) to test it before they released it to the player population.  Oh well, I'm sure they will fix it lickety split and probably issue a Thank You for testing it to nobrainer, and perhaps even an apology and refund for your Guild Reputation Points.

#1010375 Guild vs Guild Update

Posted by Spider0007 on 03 February 2024 - 15:39

In what way? As usual, have you sent in a ticket with full details as to the issue you're experiencing?

~ Grim

I am fairly certain he is trolling you BigGrim.  I came to this conclusion because 1. When he posted his comment, their guild didn't have a single active GvG conflict, so how would he have known? 2. The vaguely confusing "Udders on a Bull" reference which I found funny and 3. No follow up information provided after your response.

You see when you have repeatedly told your remaining player base to submit their game issues in a ticket it also implies you don't want them to write about it in the forums.  Unfortunately, since HCS doesn't seem to provide any information about when certain aspects of their game aren't working, It makes it extremely important for players to post it here so others will know.  For example, it would have been great for you to tell the players something like "Unfortunately our update to GvG ranges did NOT work as intended.  Please hold off on guild conflicts if you think this may prevent you from successfully completing your hits due our mistakes until we can correct this issue. (And maybe even issue a thank you and apology for making said mistake, such as...) Thank you to our dedicated player base for testing our updates and informing us of any game related issues that are not working properly.  We apologize for any inconveniences this has caused you and please forgive us and continue to support our efforts."

This is what I would consider excellent customer service.  Instead, players that do post about mistakes get told they are wrong or that they should submit tickets to provide information and proof about their issue instead of you all doing your own investigations  and testing.  As a player said to you recently, "We are not employees of HCS!" but since many of us are still passionate about playing, we have been willing to do your work for you.

#1010324 Guild vs Guild Update

Posted by Spider0007 on 28 January 2024 - 19:07

So to summarize this latest update fiasco.....GvG has needed updating for quite some time. Many players have spent their time, energy and effort providing ways and methods to be able to create a revitalized way to compete in conflicts and make it more interesting, fair, competitive, and enjoyable for players with rewards that can reflect what it actually takes for a guild to be good at guild conflicts and not just farm RP from unsuspecting guilds.

Instead of any of this being implemented, we get level range changes and an hour delay to start a conflict. That's it. Nothing more nothing less.

Oh wait, we did get nothing less, because the level ranges that are now currently advertised on the guild conflict page aren't even accurate.  In fact, they are still the old ranges before the update.  Now hopefully HCS knows this already but instead of communicating their mistake to the players, we get this instead:

The in-game value ought to be correct. The new range should always be xx1.

~ Grim

Well BigGrim, they are not correct. They haven't been correct since you updated everyone saying they are correct.  And in the attempt to make this update, it appears other aspects of the game have now been broken.  How do I know this? Easy, it was indicated in Code Update! v3.16 where 6 other aspects of the game were fixed but not the GvG level ranges.  These fixes I noticed included fixing returning player codes. Now this is personally upsetting to me because almost a year ago, Kittles and I wrote multiple tickets about the codes not working and get absolutely ridiculous responses from a developer named Kitkat telling me that investigations are being done and they will get back to me as soon as the issue is resolved, also closing my tickets without resolutions because they "clog" up their inbox. "This ticket has been closed and locked by support." What a joke as I was just trying to inform them of a broken game aspect.  BTW, Kittles, who was a long time player who actually thought about playing with us again, decided not to because he immediately recognized that nothing has changed with this game or this company.

Anyway, the final statement on the Code Update! v3.16 says "Other reported issues are still being investigated, so please remain patient.

~ The Fallen Sword Team"   Now I can only assume that perhaps the "other reported issues" are that the GVG level ranges are not accurate and that players should be told to hold off on relying on them until some "further investigations" can be done? But we don't even get the common courtesy of that information.  So sorry for the players/guilds who have initiated conflicts only to realize they can't even complete the hits because of the incorrect level ranges.

Instead, we get a 96 hour opportunity to donate money to the game and receive a Glorious Opalescent Chest.

Now perhaps HCS needs those donations in order to update and fix their game properly and to provide relevant information to the remaining player base when it isn't working properly.  But in the words of Dikembe Mutombo, "Not Today!"

Instead, let's all continue to "remain patient" because why not? Our patience has lasted for years and years already, what's a few more.

RIP Ryebred and many others.

#1009147 Planned GvG Updates

Posted by Spider0007 on 16 March 2023 - 21:51

Another suggestion open for debate.

Should "Unresolved" battles count as losses?

I think if a conflict between two players is unresolved, neither guild should have a loss. It should just be unresolved and not count towards a hit, similar to the way an unresolved on a bounty kill doesn't count.

Thoughts?

#1009136 Planned GvG Updates

Posted by Spider0007 on 15 March 2023 - 21:42

Hello everyone!

Some time back, this forum thread gave us some ideas about what we could do to revitalize GvG. We decided to take some of these on board, and we are thinking about running a trial to see how it goes.

Below are some of the things we will be aiming to implement:

  • Notification System for upcoming conflict

Just like the Relics, we believe this will give Defending Guilds a chance to prep, and allow Guilds to strategize before the conflict begins.

There was some talk about how much notice a Guild should be given before a conflict begins. There have been a few suggestions thrown around: 1 hour, 2 hours, though we believe 1 hour will suffice for the trial period.

This preparation time will be separate from the 24hr Conflict Window.

Notifications would be great but even better is to have preparation time when incoming conflicts occur! 1 hour is fine, I would be more open to more like a 12 hour delay because of inactivity, time zones, ect... It would certainly require planning on guilds wanting to initiate but it levels the playing field for those who want to defend. I'm sure all of us who care are tired of longing in and seeing 50/50 before we ever even knew there was a conflict afoot.
  • Reducing the offline time for AFK targets

The current activity timer is 7 days. We are open to reducing this to 48hrs during the trial period.

In my opinion, this is not a good idea. GvG targets are already hard to find depending on level range but reducing activity down to 2 days is going to DRASTICALLY reduce the amount of targets a player can hit and also its going to promote inactivity as an advantage to not play FS to avoid conflicts.

  • Guilds must meet the Level Requirement and be over 7 days old to initiate a GvG
  • This is a great idea also due to some players, who will remain nameless, starting a guild for the sole purpose of stealing rating.  Close this loop hole!  In addition, I would like for a player to have be in a guild long enough to earn their bronze loyalty medal before they can be a participant.  I would also like to see that same requirement for a player to tag composed potions but that's another topic.

  • Expand Level Ranges

Mostly to boost activity in the middle-late ranges. Currently, the plan is to expand these ranges after the trial period.

Yes, this needs to be done. Long overdue. With players spanning over 6k levels, its time to increase ranges.

  • Update RP Packs

Long overdue for some sort of update. We will post again with the proposed change to allow some time for feedback!

Ok great! Any incentive to build activity and participation is a good thing!

As these proposed changes will affect many of you, we urge everyone to give us their thoughts and opinions!

Thank you!  :)

Any changes to the cooldown period between conflicts? 7 days before you can initiate again?

Any thoughts about GvG ladder resets? Or are we just battling back to top 100 again?

#990009 My introduction and a couple of development screens

Posted by Spider0007 on 09 February 2018 - 14:56

Welcome kamicazer7 and thank you for the update on the progress of the FS app! I hope everything goes smoothly for you this month! Just out of curiosity, I am wondering why you and JustConix are not apart of the Hunted Cow Studios guild when all the other admins are members. Is it because you don't want to be in a guild with BigGrim? That would be my reasoning :P

Welcome aboard! Hopefully this means a massive amount of progress will be made towards completing the much anticipated Fallen Sword App! (Even a Spider can dream, right?) Perhaps Hunted Cow Studios will accept you into their guild soon enough, we still have room at RA as long as you are willing to learn the ways of PvP/GvG. Happy coding!

#986853 The Great Multi Purge

Posted by Spider0007 on 31 October 2017 - 17:24

A good number of prime accounts were terminated, so, probably not.

~ Grim

You've suspended me for longer for bringing unwanted attention to a fictitious FS player in the shoutbox. Clever or not I see why these players took the chance and boasting over 100K FSP earned over 4 years?

I'd take those kinds of profits for a 7 day suspension any day!!

#980675 GvG rework proposal

Posted by Spider0007 on 09 May 2017 - 17:02

You seem to be pushing a single agenda and justifying it anyway you can including taking partial quotes and turning them into whatever pushes said agenda forward. I have zero respect for you or your RP farming needs and quotas.

#980670 GvG rework proposal

Posted by Spider0007 on 09 May 2017 - 12:47

I miss the good old GvG days when you didn't need a partner to gvg.. GvG was active back then... but ey what can i say oldies are goodies ;) ...

I agree! Having the ability to complete 1/2 the hits or less can be very frustrating and certainly slowed down GvG across all guilds. I would not be opposed to reverting back to the "gold old GvG days" myself.

Spider - supports your idea...oh shock..wait this can't be right...hes a member of a top GvG guild

If you had comprehended what I wrote, perhaps you would have realized that I am not in full support of this idea but rather adding it as an addition to the current GvG rating system as a tournament style of play. Much like the PvP seasons that could occur occasionally and breath life back into this aspect of the game.  Adding Rye's idea in this manner might possibly take care of your concerns and others.

#980209 GvG rework proposal

Posted by Spider0007 on 26 April 2017 - 14:54

I really like the ideas and system you have developed Rye. I think anything that would breathe life back into GvG would be an overall positive for the game. Without any feedback from admin, its hard to tell if this will gain any traction. The cows seem to avoid these types of threads for some reason.

My suggestion to this whole topic is rather than replacing the current gvg system and rating, perhaps this would be more beneficial to be an addition to it. I could see this type of "tournament" being easily setup as a type of Global event, or Seasonal event that all guilds would have the opportunity to participate in periodically throughout the year. Maybe 1-2 times a year. Perhaps even bringing back PvP seasons at the same time would fun!

#972601 Help Promote PvP and make Fallen Sword GREAT AGAIN !

Posted by Spider0007 on 29 November 2016 - 13:49

Okay, enough. Stop arguing about Seasons please.

On topic :

Chazz224, sorry but I see no way that we'd ever open the level ranges up to the extent you are proposing. They are far, far to extreme.

I agree, those ranges are pretty extreme in comparison to what the level ranges are currently. Perhaps a tweak though is in order?

I had a giggle too.

As for the ranges, +10 levels per 1000 levels might not make the levelers feel like the apocalypse has descended upon them.

1-999: keep as is.

1000-1999: +/- 20 levels

2000-2999: +/- 30 levels

3000-3999: +/- 40 levels

I think stam used should be reflected in prestige gained, so making 10stams give 1 prestige, and 100stam give 10 prestige would make me smile.

I certainly agree these level ranges are much more suitable!

Perhaps for GvG they could be tweaked to

  50 -  300   +/- hit range at  25 levels

 301  - 700   +/- hit range at  50 levels

700 -   999   +/- hit range at 100 levels

1000 - 1999 +/- hit range at 150 levels

2000 - 3999 +/- hit range at 200 levels

#971908 ... a fighting chance?

Posted by Spider0007 on 16 November 2016 - 18:47

This is not about me or my friends not wanting to  lose a guaranteed 5 levels if we hit back.

I am writing in  support of Dooms suggestion.

One free revenge hit for a hit on me.   Fair suggestion.

What you want is risk free pvp and I hope that NEVER happens.  One hit one bounty was already given to players by the cows which destroyed the beauty of hourly hits. Had you not made a messy bed, you would not have to lie it.

#971900 ... a fighting chance?

Posted by Spider0007 on 16 November 2016 - 18:26

I repeat "I was hit even though i carried no gold and had protection.  I probably  spent  about 100 fsp on bounties and this player only  lost 12 levels."

If I was to hit  back I am guaranteed to lose 5 levels for one 10 stam hit.

A hit for a hit.   If you hit me I should have the right  to hit you back with no consequences as you are  the initator.

Whats not fair about  that !

So you were hit in PvP and since you had no gold and pvp protection, you lost absolutely nothing! And you're complaining? I cannot understand why.
