Let new players randomly join a guild + booster pack

With the steam link and app coming, and hopefully also new players, we will want to keep those new players. Guidance and help is needed for new players. I know we have a mentor system for that, though I am not sure how well that works. I have been a mentor for quite some time, and I hardly ever got a message from a new player. 

 

Hence I thought it may be a good idea to have new players join a guild automatically. That way they join a group of players that will be helpful to them, which may encourage them to keep playing.

Ofcourse a guild has to mark a setting that they want newbies joining them, and there may be a problem if not enough guilds have room, but as the amount of players will rise (hopefully), the amount of guilds will rise again aswel. Plus something like a recruiting list may be made that lists only new players that have not been in a guild yet, that can be instantly recruited or something.

 

Next to that, every new player should be given the booster pack automatically by then once they have completed the tuturial. That way training guilds will have it easier to help them without the stress of needing 100 emissaries sets right from the start. 

 

Just a thought. Perhaps others have (better ideas) or tweaks.

I'd be against this. I don't think the majority of Guilds in game are positive for the game in terms of new recruits. 

 

It's just my opinion, but I think it's important for people to learn about the game and find their place. Personally, I offer space to all new players and encourage them (and even give my opinion) on Guilds that they might find more interesting based on which Guild aspect they are interested in. 

 

As for the booster pack... definitely not. Think about it: I got 41 levels in the double XP. Now with uber pots, I get 8. Booster packs set up for failure and new players already have a lot of bonuses that they don't understand.

I have no opinion on new players automatically joining a guild. I am leaning towards no though.
As for the booster packs, unless the players who have already completed the tutorials but haven't gotten the booster packs yet get the packs also, I vote no.

I think each guild should receive 5 'begginer spaces', only players with 60 less days on the game would be able to join, and they would be auto-kicked 30 days after joining.

Just so guilds would receive some members to mentor, and we could have a Guild Achievement for that.

Yes, I'm talking about HCS giving us 5 new spaces for free, no one with 60+ days on the game would be able to join, and the spot will rotate when the player reached 30 days on the guild.

Not sure about this - maybe something along the lines of 'Open Guilds' might work tho, whereby the guild specifies some additional requirements for joining and players could just join and instantly become a member (guilds would need to enable this to allow it). Just thinking out loud, but might be a good way to get new players into guilds and feel like part of a team more quickly :)

They already get a lot of reserve stam to begin with, and get a lot of benefits that can help them rush through about the first 50-60 levels should they wish.

 

It would be far better to have the booster pack as an incentive a little further down the track - perhaps after they reach level 100.

 

Indeed, it would make a great reward for completing a special quest. I don't know, maybe you could call it something like "Present Darkness".

The idea for the standard booster pack was more to releave stress from (training) guilds, as it includes the golden dragon set. That way they do not have to keep 10 or more emissaries sets. 

 

An incentive at level 100 is a good idea, though even better to have one every 50 or 100 levels.

That could work aswell!

Main thing is that they have more access to helpful players that guide and help them.

As far as I am concerned everybody that did not get a booster pack should get one. Why should only somebody who was lucky to get a link get one?

Just as long as you do not get it twice, there is no unfairness.

Once they hit 50, they would be released to the wild(and keep the now "bound" Cerberus set).

Scrap all the sets that are of no value anymore like Eribor. They just serve to trick players into making bad purchases/hunts.

Also, at any time a player may be invited from the guild or join an actual guild without having to leave the new player guild first.

This would lack what is, in my opinion, the most important thing for a new player: experienced players to give them advice, answer questions, etc. Giving them loads of "stuff" doesn't have as much value as getting their questions answered and receiving guidance.

While that is true, it's not like global chat isn't available for all to see and participate in. I don't really expect guilds to harbor random newbies who might just play for one day and then leave.

Actually, I did that for a while, and lots of guilds still do. :)

I have to say from personal experience I agree with this. I was in a different guild when i first joined  but I just got treated like i was an idiot who didn't know what a computer was,  I left that guild and continued to play the game guildless untill I was convinced by my friend to find a guild. I joined TRIP after talking with one of it's members.

 

Anyways enough of my rambling,  point I'm making is not all guilds are friendly towards new players and if new players are forced to join a random guild they could wind up in the same situation as I was in and may even quit because of it (seen this happen too). True being in a guild is helpful, but the game is technically possible to play guildless.

 

My definition of "possible to play" is probably different from others though. For me it means you can beat the main storyline not that you can necessarily unlock every little thing.

Regarding the comment of some guilds not wanting new players, I did say the following in my original

So I am not really sure why that continues to pop up. I think with such a setting we have that covered, and they only land into guilds that would welcome them.

Hmmmm why not Create a new options for making guilds since there are some players who like teaching new players what if there was a an option to make something called a training guild heres what im thinking

 

you can opt to do it only when first creating the guild in the guild there are a few different options like for instance to set up to auto allow new players or even have players randomly assigned to them when they first join up the guild would then set lvls for auto kick aka maybe one guild want to train from lvl 1 to 100 while others want from like 100 to 300 this seems like it would be a way for new players to get into a guild that could already be set with gear for them. now obviously there should be a way to convert it into a regular guild after so long but perhaps training guilds could gain some kind of rewards from training new people like perhaps  mentor points (name in progress) that they can use for upgrades for the guild so that as they train new people they can also build up a guild for later when they want to get more serious about it? its just a though and perhaps a few more ideas to fling in there but more or less i think it could work.
