I guess I should be the 6th, sure gold to make said item is basically nothing but there is also a reason many of us post buying LE frags at 20 for 1 fsp and that is often not good enough to get many to farm for us.

I talked to some level 60 composers and wanted to know how much the composing pots are really worth, how much it costs them and how much the frags cost them, I asked 4 of them

I asked them about pride and lady luck

pride 200 costs them 10k gold and lady luck costs them 10k gold, if they want to earn some profit they would sell for 15 to 20k gold

from what I understood in altigers post is that the 4 composers he talked said that 10k gold should cover the gold and frag cost a pride 200 or a lady luck 200 pot they make and if they wanted to make profit they could sell for 15-20k gold, where is the problem with that?

No problem at all. I invite them to make potions for our guild :). Will they do it? Probably not. I wonder why. Lol

That's really all either of those potions cost? Really? I've never made a 10k potion yet and if I get to at level 60, that will be delightful to no end.

Wheeee. lol

Then who cares what is the profit margin? Who cares if it's over priced? The value to one person is different from the value to the next person. What was all the huffing and puffing for? :/

they sell for high prices and make a lot of profit, they travel to guilds and sell their overpriced potions and the other players are buying because they do not have a choice, traveling composers are like merchants, they try to get the most for their products and it is their right to do so

you are repeating almost the same what altiger already posted before you so what was all the huffing and puffing for? what exactly was wrong with his post? did you misunderstand him because you did not read his whole posts and felt attacked by him because you used to be traveling composers and you took it personally? I do not understand why his posts would rile you up?

I'll be damned then... LOL...Although i wouldn't consider attacking players or defending with composing "PvP"... It's alot different and better without :P.

I will have to do without soon. Need to lose more levels ;) and most of the players I attack don't require composed pots. Offline players are easy pickings. You have to admit, defending while both parties are online is a lot of fun. Too bad there is no mechanism for that.

Okay, let me give you a third person POV from what I've read about this so no more of these he said she said situations with misinterpretations hopefully. From what I've understood, yotwehc has understood altiger's post in a large generalization which is kind of what he did if you simply read what altiger wrote. Though he did specify Pride and Lady Luck as an example and went with it, it wasn't exactly clear in the sense that his entire paragraph could be interpret as saying that composing in general doesn't cost that much either. It doesn't help that he gave an example of buying legendary frags at 4k a piece. A better example that may have occurred was probably buying a ton of legendary frags during or after a legendary event at like 50/FSP or something like that and that certain player found a buyer. Hence, they made their statement because it's not false if they value FSP at 200k each. What's happened here is simply a poor example into explanation by altiger which got interpret incorrectly by yotwehc. At least, this is what it seems like from all that has been written so far. Do correct me if I have misunderstood anything here.

On another note, we've reached the Crystal mark and we're going kind of strong. Ruby is a little ways off and not expecting us to reach it but a big shout-out to the FS community and those who helped everyone get this far! I only managed 9.3k contributions myself though. One day I will get into that top 100 for those extra chests!!!

I looked at some traveling composers prices and they sell pride 200 for 1.5 FSP and lady luck for 1.5 FSP

the composing pot costs them only 10k gold but they sell for 300k gold (30 times more expensive than it costs them to create)

they sell for high prices and make a lot of profit, they travel to guilds and sell their overpriced potions and the other players are buying because they do not have a choice, traveling composers are like merchants, they try to get the most for their products and it is their right to do so

There is a question of what "profit" means in this context.

I would suggest that when your four non-travellers talk about when they "want to earn some profit", they are completely ignoring (writing off) the huge investment they put into getting to their current level. They are really thinking about covering ongoing expenses.

Travelling composers, on the other hand, have deliberately chosen to invest in levelling up their composing in order to get that money back---with interest---once they get to a high enough composing level. Just take a look at the discussion in EP's how-to-make-a-profit thread. Quite rightly, they will not consider themselves to have made any profit until they recoup all the investment they put into gaining 40-60 composing levels in the first place.

I am currently around level 50, and am putting in upwards of 300-500k gold every day to level up. I've been working on that pretty consistently at or above that rate ever since the first frag chests came out (having already got to about level 20 before that). I suspect there is not really that much profit in selling pride for 1.5 FSP. I also suspect that the time-window for being able to charge that much for pride will not be very large, as more and more players level up their composing.

Seriously guys?  I almost didn't respond as it's somewhat off topic but lets set the record straight...

You say it only costs 10k gold to create a level 200 potion.  I'm not sure where those you talked to got that number other than perhaps the cost of 1 Legendary Fragment but here is the real breakdown.

To compose a level 200 potion for 30 minutes it costs:

6000 Gold

10 Common Fragments

6 Rare

3 Unique

1 Legendary

For commons, the best rate I typically get is around 60 per fsp which is about 3333 gold each * 10 = over 30k gold.  I have yet to buy rare but lets be generous and say you can get 100 per FSP or 2k gold each * 6 = 12k gold.  Same goes for Unique - 2k * 3 = 6k gold.  As previously stated here, about the best rate you can buy Legendary Items is 20 per FSP or 10k gold each.

Adding up the cost to buy the fragments... 30k + 12k + 6k + 10k = 58k gold plus the initial 6k cost = 64,000 gold cost if you expect to break even.

This doesn't include anything for all your costs to get up to level 60 in Composing which is EXTREMELY expensive plus the hassle of hopping from guild to guild and keeping track of all your orders...

At a bare minimum, to offer a Traveling Composer any less than 100k gold each for a level 200 potion would be an insult and 1 FSP would be quite appropriate for the cost and efforts.  1.5 FSP might be slightly on the high side but all things considered is still quite acceptable.

Thank you for this event very much!!!

As for the on going discussion,
basic economics say that if u want to make a profit,
u have to take into consideration the standart costs,
meaning the costs uve already invested to reach the
point of being able to produce the
goods u are selling.

so telling that a pride pot
only costs 20000 gold is a joke.

You are convoluting the real cost. The minimum cost of frags is nothing but FREE stam! So the cost of making single skill pots for 30mins, in gold, is actually only 6k. 4k less than the guesstimate that had been given. If you want to buy extra frags, sure go ahead and use the numbers you threw out. That is EXTRA.
