Part II: The Shields
The shields are much more difficult to classify and put into proper cathegories. I tried to come up with classifications that seem to make more or less sense, but it's not perfect. I attempted to sort shields within one cathegory by their strength.
Round Shields
1) The most basic of all shields is the Terrax Shield
2) Similarly easy to obtain, the Small Iron Shield
3) He who shies the speed-penalty of the above uses the Wooden Shield
4) Interestingly only a Dragon can obtain what is needed to gain the Frozen Shield
5) The mines need to be visited to forge an Iron Shield
6) From Demoinc Stones dropped by Primites, one mixes the Primite Shield
7) Combining the Shields of Yarr and Icear (see below) is rewarded with the Shield of Darkwater
8) The best mage-shield currently around, Magi Shield
Shield-Shaped Shields (so shoot me, I didn't find a better term)
9) Very stylish looks the Undead Shield
10) One of the en-Rage-ing items, the Zenix Field
11) By decrypting several notes one is rewarded with the Shield of Yarr
12) ... which goes well with the Shield of Icear
13) Nothing more strenuous than mining iron is necessary for the Large Iron Shield
14) But only a lot of Praying and some Rare Trading, gain you the Shield of Ventras
15) ... which you lose again in Varo, to eventually find the Liquid Shield
16) Possibly the gayest Shield in existence is the next upgrade, Elemental Shield
Shields from Invasion Creatures
(technically, the Zenix Field and the Primite Shield above are from invasions too)
17) Most freedom of movement allows the Assassin Shield
18) The defensive side of an Yvew is represented by the Yvew Shield,
19) ... the offensive (attack) side of the Enhanced Yvew shows the Yvew Enhanced Shield
20) ... and finally the most powerful of these, from Yvew Chancellors, Yvew Carver Enhancement
21) On to the Tarragons: Defensive Tarragon Nullifier
22) ... and offensive: Tarragon Amplifier
23) A fragile thing indeed (but sometimes useful for mages), the Death Shield
The Rest™
24) The most difficult to get shield, beautiful but pretty useless: Tamrath's Shield
25) Two forgable shields: Crystal Shield
26) ... and the highest defence-shield bar the nullifier: Kunzite Grand Shield
27) And last but by NO means least the best warrior "shield", the Ice Pincers
28) Level-restricted to 1250 and higher, (Ice Pincers with Yvew Carver melded onto an Assassin Shield?) Soul Destroyer
