New WB that punishes afk

Firstly there is a problem with people not working as part of the team in WBs. This isnt a topic about changing current mechanics, but an idea for a new WB with mechanics to prevent it. Whether these can be used throughout other WBs or not I dont know if it would work.

 

Sample Mechanics.

- Basic attacks heal boss (this will mean no afk attacking and force people to use skills)

- Boss will notice if you stand still for more than a minute and cast 'statue' on you. This will turn you into a stone statue and you can only then be smashed by another player (causing freedom and health reduced to 1hp). While a statue you dont get a roll in any loot. The players can all decide whether to leave you as a statue till after loot rolls or to smash and free you.

 

Any other ideas to add on, go...

would need a clause that "statue" can't be cast when boss is below X% hp... otherwise someone could be fighting the hole time run out of mana shortly before boss dies stop attacking to keep from healing it (since cant auto attack) turn into statue just as boss dies.

That's not really strategy though. Just punishing those that afk. I know where you're coming from though.

Uhh cant really penalize basic attack. As a warrior there's lots of times where thats all you can do because you just dont have any mana. Basic attack is our bread and butter.

Not attacking you treefrog,but I don't think i've ever had an moment where all I could do is basic attack tbh on my warrior char.

I'm not saying there are long stretches but if I only use skills then my mana is used up in about 10 seconds, meaning its 5 seconds of basic attack before I can use a mana pot.

That would just add another dimension then. Plus WBs have short pot CD times so nothing to worry about at all really...

I was suggesting in a different thread to adjust the loot system for afkers, but I love the statue idea. :)

People would be just trolling with basic attack healing imo. But autoattack animation could last like 15-20 seconds, after that attack would stop and you would be forced to press button again.

I really do think this will be solved when guilds are implemented.  Members not pulling their weight will be shown the door.

 

Not a big fan of the no basic attack idea.  As the healer, it is my basic attack that is helping out in between healing the tank, along with the occasional Erupt, Ignite, and Incinerate.

 

I do think the mechanics could be made more interesting, but only after the lag issue is resolved.  A permanent crystal prison, ala grotto spiders, for those that do not move from a semi-frequent random selection of spots, should do the trick.

 

And, while on the subject of mechanics, the scarabs and dragonlings need to enter in a more dispersed fashion and not all target the same person.  It is too easy to dispatch the entire lot with a meteorite or two...  Have 3 independent groups of adds target 3 of the top 5 aggros?

Add a attack that makes i.e. meteors or stones come from the sky and darken 20% of the area for 5/10 sec before killing everyone standing in there.

Like Alteration said, there isn't much point in adding more mechanisms to WBs until players can properly react to them. Imagine BT skelly pillars falling frequently during WB.

Maybe a poison starts to stack on you if your stationary for more than 30 seconds. and keeps on adding until you start moving or die. :/

I like these ideas.  Spells should also count as movement (any action other then basic basic attack).
