I have a suggestion that would (technicly) cost nothing to start a guild, but still require some investment.

How about require 5 or 10 FSP to start a guild, but the guild starts with that amount of FSP deposited in the bank. It can't be withdrawn anyway, but assures that the leader invests at least something into the guild, which can only be spent on guild upgrades. I would like for it to be kept fairly low in price to give more people a chance, but enough to ensure the founder makes the initial investment and not just everybody new to the game starting guilds and taking up names just to see what the button or link does.

that's fair. there's the price-deterrent factor, but still keeps the guild creation "free" and enables a user enough time to ask around and weigh the pros & cons.

good idea

u r smurt :D

And along the way, when this will get implemented, please delete all the guilds that are being ran by inactive guild member(s)

If they won't delete inactive players, it seems hugely unlikely to me that they'll be willing to delete inactive guilds.

I always thought HCS keep inactive players for the big number shown to players before they register (and after they register)... It's not the same with guilds.

Well, yes that's what everyone thinks.

But what HCS say is that they keep them because people will be far from chuffed if they come back and their work is deleted.

Exactly the same can be said for guilds.

not fairly... guilds have expenses, characters don't.

these failed guilds have got to go "chapter 11" at some point... otherwise there's no point to the expenses...

Guilds don't have expenses. Structures do. The structures go to 'chapter 11' and get destroyed.

I'm sure many inactive guilds have FSP invested, I'm not sure what the legal situation would be if HCS just deleted people's money.

Especially given they had no warning that was a danger when they were investing.

I still don't understand why you guys hate inactive guilds so much. Do you really want swarms of this type of person applying to/joining your guild? Most are probably under 10, power-hungry, and irritating. Let them make their own guild and go inactive.

Even tyrath himself says begging isn't all that bad in other threads. I personally never have problems with it, but then I never have much gold.

Guilds should be dissolved and the names erased and cleared for future use, once their bank hits "0" gold.

They may lose whatever FSP are in their bank, but it's senseless to keep hundreds of defunct guilds if none of their members can even keep 1 gold in the bank.

If losing the FSP makes this not such a good idea, then how about costing 1 FSP per (week, day or 2-3 days) if there is no gold left in the bank. An alternative would be to force a bankrupt guild with deposited FSP to sell 1 FSP (automaticly) for the "+10,000 Gold" upgrade price available to players.

Additionally, if a guild has no structures, there should still be some small amount of upkeep to allow for guilds to go bankrupt. It could be a small, trivial amount such as 1 gold per hour, per guild level. (Hoof, you were looking for more small gold sinks, weren't you?)

Also, forcing a guild to sell an FSP for 10k to cover upkeep, may also be another way to encourage purchasing of FSP.

Voted NO! I started my Guild at level 3 I think.. and at that time I could not afford to pay to create it..

I never begged anyone for anything, so we cant tarnish everyone with the same brush.. that would be Noob Guildist

YAY!

Guild Creation

There seems to be too many 'throw away' guilds which are created by low level players with little understanding of the game (usual with stupid names also). So to combat this, you now must be at least level 10 to create a guild and it also requires 10 FallenSword Points. However, the points use to create the guild are automatically added to the Guild Points so they can be used for Guild Upgrades etc. We this is a good way to do this :)

Wow what a great Idea

It should be applied retroactivelly and be scalable according to the guild size. If, let's say, you own a level 200 guild with 10,000 members than you would have to pay about 2000 FSP to keep the guild.

Again, its a fantastic idea. How dare people create tiny guilds. Its much better better just to join a big guild and be forced to log in everyday and level up as fast as humanly possible so you dont get kicked. Being told what to do with your stamina is especially awesome, because that is loads of fun.

dud, if you don't have 10fsp, there's no point to a guild but storage.

and storage has a price.

retroactively and scaled lol there's a term "grandfathered in" in law.

check it :P

I don't have a problem with FSP :) but many do. People from outside the US for instance.

people like me, outside the US?

yea i'm aware.

Besides, its the smug attitude about other people's guilds that is borderline ridiculous.

smug, funny. there are enough guilds, i've played other games where there was a global limit on the number of clans or guilds.

everyone wants to be a leader when they're 12....

So, on that note, yes, if this was to take place then it would have to be scaled according to guild size, since to a level 3 10 FSp is a big hit, a level 300 with a nice fat guild would need such a hit to his wallet as well..

Unless of course if the actual point is to be elitist, in that case just charge the newbies.

it IS already in place.

nothing elitest about it, it's a prohibitive cost to keep multies from abusing the system for extra storage, and to keep people from starting a guild without any idea of what the costs are.
