Looking at my quest log, and the quests I still haven't completed.  I plan to continue at least some of them, just for the storyline.  But it occurred to me how nice it would be if there was more incentive.

I suggest a small percentage of the lost XP get turned into gold.  Not too much, grinding until cap and then doing quests should never be a preferred way to make gold.  Just a small amount, maybe 10%, for a bit of extra incentive.

10% of ungained exp gotten as gold? so them 9.5k exp lvl 45 quests would give 950g?   hmmmmm

Alternate suggestion, and possibly easier to implement and balance....

change quest rewards. give players 3 options on each quest for exp/gold gain

1st = higher exp earned

2nd = average exp/gold earned

3rd = higher gold earned

so example Quest XXXX currently gives 9.5k exp and 15g the options would be

1st: 12,000 exp 5g

2nd: 9,500 exp 15g

3rd: 4,000 exp 30g

so players both leveling and capped could choose the option that best suit them. pick more exp to lvl faster pick balanced or pick more gold to level slower but be able to purchase more things/repair more.

Love this idea be interesting to do or even get a lvl cap exp orb where the exp can be stored and that exp can be used to either buy gold or use the exp to lvl your char is the cap gets increased. I know most players hit eh cap stoped doing quests i stoped playing games for that reason i mean i quit Neverwinter cause the cap was 60(can be reached in less than a week) but they have thousands of quests to do whats the point in wasting all that exp lol of course they added where you can do other things with the exp you gain like get money or train pets and what not :) other games ive played they let you store the exp in an orb to use if and when tthe cap is increased or for other options like lvling spirits and things of that nature :) im taking my time on lvling i switch between chars i have in no rush to cap out liek i did in other games i even have one that i did only quests in this game i deleted that hit the cap in less than a week i was liek Ug so now i veg :) speed questers and lvl cap gained are only good if you want to PVP and even than whats the point of power lvling to cap and get bored so yea something like an exp orb or the exp gets stored somewhere for later use be great

Too late to say I meant 10% in copper?  I just pulled out a number without thinking it through.  Obviously needs adjustment :)

I do like your alternative.  The numbers need some adjustment, but the concept is very good.  I enjoy doing quests at or close to level, and this allows me to earn gold and slow down my progression at the same time.  We still need to watch and ensure this doesn't become a primary way to earn gold.  But the flexibility is good.
