I have noticed though that gargoyles aren't ever given as an option for best hunting (if you're a low enough level to be hunting them anyway)

Both the melee and magic pickers are great.

I dont know if they are ever the best to hunt (they might be at very low levels), but have you taken into account the 'Low Spawn Rate'? As there arent many Gargoyles per spawn, you have to change one of the settings to include creatures below 'medium' spawn rate.
I managed to get it to be 3rd choice by looking at its stats and entering fake stats on first attempt.

Vials are a pain because they work on base stats. It would mean keeping track of base stats and whatever kit stats you have. Also, I've had terrible problems with things like MP. No matter which order I apply the maths, I don't get the same numbers I see in game.
One way to deal with vials is just to put your vial'd stats in instead.

I've now set it up to filter out anything with less than 60% chance to hit (because anything less than that probably isn't going to give good AP/XP). I've also fixed a couple of other bugs so you should be seeing more sensible AP estimates now.

But I really need to put the other skill stuff at the top of the "to do list" - things like Hard Shell, Thump, Demonic Wrath etc etc etc.
