There is one unfortunate problem with a mentor system that makes me squeamish.  Too often people these days  don't want to patiently learn, they want a "win" button, and they assume "mentor" means ATM  (yes, I sound grumpy & old even to me).  Example -- I know many arena players get this frequently and are simply asked what gear to wear for what level and the player cares less about the "teaching" and more about just being handed the win.

Tell me about it Kath.  I've jumped into PvP and found it boggling putting together set ups and counter set ups.  I've played around with the wiki and guide for countless hours, comparing each set up with max buffage and forging.  I've spent hundreds of dots on gear for my ladder.  But without the help of players like Sithstress, Markaaron, egsix, and others, I'd be further behind in my efforts.  Discussing YOUR kits with veteran pvpers, not asking for THEIR kits results in alot of help...

...and I'd like to mention that Chazz helped me immensely when I took his bounty, soft cleared him, and he buffed up, suited up, and kept switching gear to keep me thinking and adjusting, live.  That was the best lesson on which kits need to be created to combat others.  If some arena/pvp folk get touchy about their work, it's understandable....count me in this category now.

...DP

p.s. PvP is expensive if you want boss kits, but fun as hell.

Swearing, even starred out, is not acceptable on the forums. Cheers!

I am not sure how deep you are going to get on this subject.  I dont have much time and read thru here fast but i did not see any discussion on.

1. high attack high damage setups  (with high dodge or first strike)

3. using the buffs that you can control the level cast like NMV (or whatever) to your advantage in PvP

enhancements have caused so many of my loses in PvP.

Can you please discuss these

This guide was basics meant to get the avg player informed so they can utilize the info in whatever aspects of the game they ventured into(set up as PvP guide, but the info is solid for many aspects).  The variable rabbit hole goes deep; and if any more was included it would create more confusion then help to the avg reader.  If you need assistance please pm Chazz in game; Kittles & DomCorvis have also offered help. and they have one of the finest understandings of buff effects, mechanics, and buff/kit utilization in game.  I'd also be happy to help anyone who has questions.  Thank you ~ Rye

Thank you Chazz224 I have been searching for a newbie type tutorial to explain the basics of pvp ever since I first started !! (on second life) The way you have presented this is both easy to read and full of info. For the first time I am curious to try it myself (at some time)  !! Never thought I would EVER say that ... Will have to study for a bit tho so I am not an epic fail ;)

Thank you and I hope you do enjoy it - PvP is very dynamic and in my opinion one of the finest aspects this game has to offer + it has kept me here in game for about 6yrs now lol =)

Chazz, my compliments on an excellent starter tutorial that is both clear and concise. In a future addendum you might want to consider the discussion of the use of multiple screens when you have an opponent that is "dancing" with you. Which to me is PvP at it's best, when you have two active participants switching sets, and where you can learn the most about setups as DeadParrot stated in his post. Again thanks for your time and effort you expended on this tutorial.
