A few nights ago I decided to try the queued PvP (4 on 4) for the first time. I always see these PvP players trying to get games going so I figured I'd help. But...
There was no way I was going to take a tank speced specifically for dungeons to a PvP match. I already know how my tank does in PvP from Trappers Atoll (hint: its not good). So...
I decided to take my level 19 alt. Its a mage so it has ranged attacks (a necessity I figured). Also, I'd heard that low level characters get big buffs. I figured this would at least be an improvement over my tank. Anyhow...
The first game was not so bad. I was underpowered but I actually was able to get a kill. It was clear there were players in there who were not topped out and speced for PvP. Unfortunately one of my teammates had to go afk which shifted the balance against us, but all in all it was a positive experience and was somewhat fun. Therefore, I queued again afterwards...
The second match was an utter nightmare and was exactly what I feared. It was my image of this that kept me from doing PvP this whole time. The other team simply could not be hurt and even the slightest wound was near instantly healed. There was only one player on their team to whom my attacks resulted in a visible health bar decrease (although still not much). On the other players, my attacks had zero effect. I don't think they suffered one death...
Yet, I was forced to endure this capture the flag match until time ran out. The match should have been stopped after a couple scores, but instead it kept going and going. Killing spree, rampage, rampage, unstoppable, etc. 25-0, 50-0,...225-0, on it went. In most games, I simply would have sat in the lobby and waited till it ended, but this being a small community I felt compelled to continue to enter to try in vain to help... Or, rather, I felt compelled to take the same beating my teammates were taking.
Unless there is an update that convinces me otherwise, I will not be doing PvP again until I have my own pimped out character speced for PvP.
