#906334 A way to make crafting worth while at any level

Posted by 021962 on 02 December 2014 - 14:50

Right now crafting is a tedious process with little too no reward. Other than the set items every five levels or so, the in game rare and heroic drops are always better than the crafted item for the same level.

My suggestion then is: While crafting, give a very low random chance to create a heroic item for that level. Only if one is already in game for the item you are crafting. And a low random chance to craft a rare item. Again only if one is already in game for the item you are crafting.

It just seems wrong to me, to craft hundreds of items. And never actually use any of them, because the random kill drop or quest reward is always better. Even leave out the truly heroic items if you want. Just implement something to reward the craftsman. And yes, you can craft a few nice items every few levels. But usually the set reward trumps any benefit of leaving it equipped for more than a level or two. So as it stands right now you may as well just run the dungeons for gold and relics and purchase your equipment. Rather than spending the time to level crafting. You will make way more gold and have better gear.

This is something I don't agree with. What fun would it be for alts. Purpose of an alt is to role-play a different style. Most here seem to have forgot the fun roleplaying can be in a game. I have an alt for each of the major classes. Mage, Ranger, Templar and Healer. If all I had to do was run around and grind mob's, they would all be level 40 by now.

Well I can see everyone's point. But I can make 1 gold every hour selling coal or fleece to support the lack of coin. That you can do from level 1. So I still don't think the last change made the game unplayable. It just required a change in strategy. We lost the back pack space and supporter buff. That is a major change from how we were playing. But it is also a great test for what the non supporter will see. And from what I have seen so far, they can do every thing a supporter can do. Just a little bit slower.

I think if you click on another player it would be interesting to be able to open a page that allowed you to look at their equipped gear and stats. And also his skill and crafting levels. Be nice to see how they are progressing in these areas. Maybe even look at their achievements. After all, showing off our accomplishments might promote more player interaction.

#821233 Pricing Changes

When we first started this phase of beta. I would have agreed with the raise the price on crafted and lower repair. But! Now that I have put in the time to level some of the crafts. I think the balance is probably about right. Yes, I am always broke. Yes, it is painful to spend an hour gathering resources, just to sell them for cash to level something else. But having put in the time. I don't think anything should change. Reason! If everything is easy or even just slightly hard, what are we going to spend time on one month or even two months down the road? The game appears to be designed to give a player something to do in their spare time. Yes reaching EOC in a week would be awesome. But then what are you going to do. The way the current set up is working, more players are around for more interaction. I consider that to be a major plus. No more logging in for an hour, then finding something else to do.

Not sure these are bugs, but they are irritating.

Crop dust and Compost (purchased) You have to use 2 of each on the plot. Be more convenient to use just one like the scarecrow and seeds. If it is supposed to be a gold sink, raise the price. But please lower the usage to 1.

Crop dust. I use it, but it does not seem to make a difference on how many times I need to prune the crop. 1 - 2 times pruning with crop dust. 1 - 2 times pruning with out crop dust.

Not sure if Compost and Scarecrow is additive on the final crop. I usually end up with a + 4 when using both and a + 4 with just the scarecrow.

Noticed the queue option only allows one choice. I would suggest letting a player have as many choices as they qualify for. Reseting the instance when the join a group. At the very minimum PVP should be seperated out as a different choice from the quests. If you queue up for a quest, you cannot put your name in for PVP as it is currently working. Should be able to do both. This will also ease some of the pressure of players finding a group for the lower quests.

You have 400 plus levels of content to enjoy. With some of the best storylines I have seen in the gaming world. Will they ever take the game down? Hard to say and not up to the player per say. Enjoy it for the distraction it was designed to be. Have fun with it. The content alone is worth the effort. Wish there was a way to reset my character and go through the story lines again.
