Medi you can pick the color of your torch
What do birthstones do?
Birthstones open up character slots up too 16 in total per account
Crofil - 49 O=(`-`Q)
l0rdka0s - 49 Tank
Ridcully - 49 healer
Liforc - 49 Ranger
Nihilus - 49 Warsin

Sure, before release you purchased insta dragons from the cash shop, the same way you can do now with repair kits.
So if you had a stack of 10, you could insta dragon 10 times anytime you wanted until those 10 were depleted.
It is priced as a rare item as you can not get them anymore, it does exactly the same thing the current insta dragon does
More appealing to players who like discontinued items than anything else I guess.
