Will we be allowed to make video's of Closed Beta, for those accepted? Or... Will we be unable to discuss anything about the beta due to specific ToC?

 

I honestly hope that we can put video's for those who are unfortunate and do not get into CB.

 

Or if you don't want the Vid's public on YouTube, how about just make it so that only people who use these forums can watch it?

You'll be glad to know that (so the bosses tell me) we don't intend to enforce an NDA once beta starts. If you see it, you can record it, blog about it, post screenshots, whatever you like!

 

I might be making a few gameplay videos myself. 

 

NDA = Non-disclosure Agreement, which means people aren't allowed to give information about it.

 

As there will not be an NDA the beta testers are all free to share information with the rest of the world.

As Anakiro said we would like to encourage people to take videos, screenshots etc and talk about Eldevin as much as possible! It's the best way that we will grow a community around the game

 

It's also virtually impossible for us to stop people doing that even if we wanted to

I as well promise at least 3-5 videos of my progression through the game. That is of course that I get accepted :3

Can anyone recommend a decent non-youtube video host (no sign-up would be ideal) and linux compatible video editor/screen capture?  I would not mind trying my hand at creating a video or two; it could be interesting.

I believe youtube has the greatest reach, second might be the site Vimeo. The most popular video capture for games is Fraps, but as this is a browser game using Java, I don't know how well it work with the game. Camtasia should work though regardless. I believe fraps works with Linux, not sure about Camtasia though.

Not sure if Fraps is windows/mac only but if its not it works like a charm

 

You would need a video compressor like Sony Vegas or something. My compressor is Windows only though so that won't help you much :\
