There isnt that many long term goals in the game, and if things keep going the way they are then gems will no longer be a long term goal.

So apart from gems we also have Prestige Vanity and i guess you could also included achievement hunting in that long term goal list too.

Can you give us some more options of things to aim for!

What sort of long term goals would you find most compelling?

Gear based objectives at the moment are tied in with the march towards 50 content, though I could see us having some sort of long term objective for legendary gear at level 50.

1) make new minis in the game that people can work together towards receiving awards from it,for not just 1 armor set for each class, but different tiers of difficulty that could be awarded even further down the road past lvl 50...(chapter 2)
2)expand skilling revamp the entire skilling system to be more...effective,useful and tiered properly,(Expand to lvl...200 maybe and not force skilling to be set as a match up for required character lvl upon equipping)so the current sets get the expansion Example lvl 5 current item then be lvl 10 so make the cap lvl 100 for now, going to 200...this wouldnt be difficult or a giant set back, and release beastly tiered armors for crafting at every 50 lvls...(ALSO no one is even close to cap number of items crafted or gathered,so this will create a good grind for em)
3)Make ACTUAL world bosses that can drop rare armors with new roll effects idk..maybe every 500 kills...
4)Make a boss reward system for raid bosses, for every boss you defeat an turn in your weekly quest for,you get a raider point or etc,and make a raiders vendor where you can swap out your points for weapons, maybe make these weapons cost idk...100 points for first set, 500 for upgrade to set and possible weapon style change(instead of sword, maybe axe etc)..that way you create variety, maybe these are actually set upon the true stat system where you can revamp weapons to make weapon speed a correct variable,(Example, small sword having like idk 1.50,daggars having 1.25 axes having 1.75 but the faster your wep the lower the melee dps etc...that way characters can choose by their preferance.

could give a billion different ways to solve this problem.

But what I can say is,at this point in the game, the raid bosses, Defiler, zorskaar etc..are fairly pointless to do,the gems are still the same tier as before, the gold you get from the weeklys you can get 4x-5x faster else where, the rare items you get from it,the belts and etc are all capped at the moment no one needs em.

There is of course a balance to be found between such ideas and what we can afford to do. Anything with the word revamp or overhaul is most likely to scare us off xD

Usually best to look at an overhaul, like a fix to a currently offset problem to the game which could eventually become an even worse problem the further down the road the game goes. A scare, possibly, a fix and a new broader open system with much more possibilities...Absolutely.

Balance,is a matter of opinion by each individual, where as it is impossible to maintain,it is relatively possible based off a companies opinion as a whole. that being said, you guy could easily create a proper balance for such a system(I know you can)

You could reissue founder items (second editions) to raise money to afford to do things. :D
