#988925 The Forest of Yule returns!

Posted by 3JS on 27 December 2017 - 07:08

I have an opinion on all this bickering about what's fair and what's not......I don't care.

I'm the worst titan hunter in the game. It will likely take me until next year to finish the quest. I don't care.

Some people may make a decent profit from this system. I don't care.

Some others (like me) will never gain a drop. I don't care.

Folks, this is a game. Games are meant for entertainment. If all you plan on doing is complaining, then maybe this isn't the outlet you need to focus your time on. Some of you are complaining that EP and a couple others might get 2 drops....Who gives a rats ass? If they spent the currency to do these things....it's not your business. Go outside. Breathe some real air. This computer game isn't life, and it certainly isn't so serious to warrant pages and pages of arguing. There are real problems in the world, probably closer to you than you think. Spend the energy on fixing them. Not a titans TKP.

I'm terrible at titan hunting. I didn't realize just how bad I am until just now, though. I couldn't get to it 1 square away from me, let alone across the map.

To those players who can get 1K+ kills on this thing for the quest each time....My hat's off to you. You whooped me good. I ended up with 30 kills. This quest may take a while.

Would have been nice to have that clarification made before a ton of us spent dozens of FSP's to forge the Hounds set.

#969380 Zorgrom vs Shroud IV

Posted by 3JS on 23 September 2016 - 11:23

It's a double edged sword, I think. It is definitely easier than when we went through it, but the game was thriving back then. Also, EOC was only a few hundred levels away. Now with it being 3K levels, it is a bit overwhelming, to say the least.

I got hopped on in a long winded post when I said this before, but how many people are going to stick around when they create an account and are already 5 years minimum from "catching up"?

#969372 Frustration

Posted by 3JS on 23 September 2016 - 10:51

Almost 10 years down. Still the same gripes (legit ones, though) as there always has been. When EOC was at 500, the same types of threads were made about lack of consistent content. It's kind of been the thing in FS over the years. Hell, if content only rolls out 2x a year at 150 levels a piece, that would be an improvement, at least. It used to be 10 level blocks! While I can see the concern, there's quite a bit more that I'd like to see before content.

Arena needs attention. Or dismantling. Or a nuke.

SE's are dead. Titans, too - other than the seasonals.

Quest arcs are not only incomplete, but some have gone years without a finish line.

Scavenging is a waste (unless you're Hades, lol).

Ladder has never been right.

Globals are already stale.

Inventing...What's that? Gear is nothing but frags, after all.

That's a list I came up with in 2 minutes, and no sleep for days. Others here who are way smarter than me could do much better, I'm sure.

I won't pretend to know what it's like as a developer or programmer. However, when your highest grossing game every year gets less and less attention so you can roll out other games really makes little sense to me. I know a smidgen about business, and letting your bread and butter flounder in order to roll out other unproven projects can't be a good model.

Now, I'm not upset like some folks are. In fact, I don't particularly care. If FS folded today, I'd be bummed - but my life would go on without a hitch. I sometimes go weeks without logging in, anyway. I do understand players frustrations, though. I think sometimes you guys at HCS take these threads as personal attacks, but they're not generally meant that way.  Players just want something to do, is all. Then, at Christmas, we have so much to do in a 2 week span that it can't all possibly get done. Feast or famine, man. There's no in between.

#965872 Stat Changing Skill Levels in Super Pots Are Harmful

Posted by 3JS on 13 July 2016 - 04:15

How about coding the composing pots so they can't be distilled? That would seem to land somewhere in the middle, right? Level 60 composers still get to reap the benefits of their suffering, and the pot isn't quite so powerful.

Look at me, being all compromising. Who'd have thunk it?

#965296 Double XP Event begins!

Posted by 3JS on 06 July 2016 - 06:46

I find it hard to believe (Nevermind...I've read the forum enough) that players complain about a curve ball after years of complaining that everything in the game was laid out like a cookie cutter.

So they gave you an extra 50 levels....Haven't players at EOC been hollering about lack of content release for a good 7-8 years now? You get it, and then still manage to yell?

Keep whining abou the XP events...Eventually they'll get tired of reading it and stop rolling them out.

#950651 In other news, an idea related to PvP

Posted by 3JS on 08 October 2015 - 14:22

this pretty much explains why the bb is a joke- not a punishment when players like losing levels , as if it is a badge of honor- until the bb is a punishment it will never work as it should

Every thread, every day (and recently in my PM's), this dude complains about everything PvP. First the ladder, now the BB and an idea for a medal which most likely has nothing to do with him. I don't get it, honestly. When the BB is used as a punishment and a player loses 5 levels, it's said that the hitters are bullies, cowards hiding behind a guild, GvPers, and whatever other weak sauce that they can come up with. Now, it's said that players like losing levels and the BB isn't a punishment? Make up my mind, man.

Anyway...back on topic. The medal? Why not, I suppose. I'd also like to see a medal for GvG, while we're on that subject. I don't really see a need for the top rated idea, though. I think a medal would be good enough for bragging rights.

#950637 PvP Ladder Rewards : Chests

Posted by 3JS on 08 October 2015 - 05:22

You wanna talk radical? How about every PvP aspect of the game awards you a certain token (the same token for everything). You can take these tokens and choose your reward from a page, kind of like what the arena has now. You win an arena...you win X tokens. You win the ladder...X tokens. Then we won't have to worry about the "the arena has better rewards than the ladder" argument, or vice versa. Everyone would have access to the same loot.

You could exchange these tokens for gold, chests, quest items...whatever. Problem solved.

#950635 PvP Ladder Rewards : Chests

Posted by 3JS on 08 October 2015 - 04:54

The points on both sides are valid, but let's face it...Most levelers don't care about PvP. They don't want to use their stam on it, and they hate when others use stam at their expense. I get it, as do most others. There will never be a middle ground to make those, for lack of a better word, extremists happy. The same goes for PvPers who hate using stam on critters, and would rather use it on other players instead. Instead of beating your head into a wall trying to convince the other side that you're right, why not just build on the (mostly) good ideas that have been presented, and let everyone play how they like. BG has a very good idea about awarding extra tokens for levels of participation, but it keeps getting buried in all this garbage.

If the prizes are worth the inevitable loss, players will join the ladder. If they're not, they won't. It's simple. Worth is an individual thing, as some players like myself will lose 10 levels in order to finish first for a measly 5 tokens. Others may feel that even a single % of a level is too much of a loss. Neither opinion is less valid than the other, unless you look at the forums these days. And we wonder why the same 10 people post every day...

If you don't mind XP loss, the ladder is there. If you do, there's GvG (which eventually will net you a nice epic prize), and there's the arena.

Of course, some players have excelled in just about every aspect of the game. Watering down their accomplishments by making everything even easier than it already is...well, there's gonna be some frustration from them, and rightfully so.

The ladder is meant to be a struggle. This is the reason participation is lacking, not because it's broken or unfair. Some don't have the time, and there's absolutely no shame in that. Lord knows, I've had my struggles with finding time, too. Others simply won't join because they are intimidated. Also, nothing wrong with this (although there are plenty of people who would help). Then there's the players who want an easy win, and can't get it, so they want to change it. Who has been around long enough to remember the original arena? It was dominated by 15-20 players, and instead of learning to beat them, a few shouted from the mountain tops to change the way everything worked. The arena has went downhill ever since.

While I'm not a fan of the ever increasing uber pots and composed buffs, it's too late to turn back now. You want ladder participation to grow? Make those prizes comparable to other areas of the game. After all, that is the topic of this thread, right?

#950190 PvP Ladder Rewards : Chests

Posted by 3JS on 01 October 2015 - 04:12

yes,  the 1 player could win the ladder , but at what cost of xp loss ??

the 1 player can only cause a little xp loss on EACH of the other ladder players, where the rest of the ladder (  like the one with 10 from same guild) if it chooses to , could pummel that poor 1 player into losing massive amounts of levels, more than any bb could ever do..am i missing something about this ?

unless i am wrong, i think that pretty much answers why that ladder bracket has not changed for a long time- who dare to challenge them and lose massive amounts of levels for a few tokens ?

and answers why it is hard to get players to join the ladders- more players on a ladder = more xp loss that could occur, lots and lots of xp loss, especailly if 1 guild controls most of a ladder

The player who did pretty well against us has posted in this thread, and mostly agreed with the points made. Did they lose XP....sure, as did everyone else. This particular player was in for 2-3 resets. They lost 2-3 levels during this time, but they were able to win. Ultimately, this is how the ladder is designed...to compete. It's not meant to sit around, twiddling your thumbs.

On the original topic of reward chests....Thinking out of the box.....How about a chest geared towards titans or SE's? Maybe add mesmerize, terrorize, FI, lady luck, SES, etc. I'm not too sure what the useful titan buffs are, honestly. Those I listed would be great for a good SE run, though.

That is -100 of its level. The set is for level 2250.

Doh! I'm a dummy.

#947340 Does FS need an accelerated level program?

Posted by 3JS on 02 September 2015 - 09:23

Instead of complicated formulas aimed at player retention, why not make it simple?

New players start off with 10K max stam, and a few multi buff XP potions to help them grab hold of the game. The beginning stages of the game were a nightmare for me. If I had to start over like that again...I wouldn't.

Anyone currently under 10K stam would get bumped up to match, and anyone over 10K could receive some reserve stam.

I know, I know...."I paid good money for my stam bank, it's not fair!" Guess what...so did the rest of us. If the game dies because of no new blood sticking around, what good was it? At some point, we (meaning HCS and the player base) have to give up on trying to gain as much wealth as possible in order for the game to survive.

#946336 PvP Ladder/ Bounty Board Improvement Ideas

Posted by 3JS on 22 August 2015 - 22:38

Anyone remember the original "ladder"? Everyone had a PvP rating. It went up when you won, down when you lost. Everyone was in the same "ladder", but could only attack players within +/- their level. It was actually quite fun, seldom did anyone get butthurt, and it was continuous. Why can't we bring that back?

#946330 Time-limited Items

Posted by 3JS on 22 August 2015 - 21:39

this reminds of an off the wall idea I liked as well from way back  ..Crystalline Epics  ( that could be bought for some major arena tokens or pvp tokens )

Been saying this for quite some time, but I keep getting shot down. Crystal Epics have so many positives that I just can't figure out why there's so much opposition.

They will eventually break, creating constant demand.

They (should) be super tough to invent, so as to not flood the game

When the inevitable composing update happens, epic frags could be added for new potions (or crystal epics could be used as maybe 10-20 crystal frags)

Where's the negatives?
