For some reason, it says that it costs 5 ep... shown in image below. If you send someone a mail, it actually cost nothing. The 5 EP isn't taken away from your amount.

 

However I noticed if you hover on the EP icon, it says (bound) and I don't have any bound EP as far as I know. So I wonder if that's it?

 

And items apparently cost 5 EP each - but if you send the mail with the items - it does not take away from the amount of your EP either.

 

 

And does it really cost 5 EP to send mail or is that meant for the items sent?  I didn't think so because to be charged 5 EP just for mail with no attachments is a bit high I say. Considering if you swap gold for 5 EP to send mail - it actually costs 10 - 15 gold to send one. 

 

The only actual cost so far that works is if you include coins/ep in mail for 20 silver coins. (Then it takes away the amount of coins/ep you included + 20 silver coins).

 

So I think EP cost is bugged.. at least for the items? But for the mail itself.. w/o attachments... I don't think anyone would want to pay that much... but that's just my opinion.

The test I sent last night took the 5ep from me. I do have bound ep though.

yep doesnt take any ep of me when i send items or message. ep is unbound

For subscribers it's 20 silver as far as I'm aware.

haven't tested this yet but think charging ep for mail either way should only be an option.  mail should use in game currency not ep.  wondering  if this is just something they need to fix.

I'm just speculating here but the only reason I can see a charge being in place is

A deterrent to stop people mass spamming, malware links,gold sites from free accounts (it's gonna cost them if they do.)
Private messaging on forums is still useful as it's free to speak or to organise something
Maybe the servers wouldn't cope with a lot of messages

Today it could have said 1k ep per message, I was too busy with testing it out and I didn't find out until friend told me. I didn't get to test it for long before server login was down

I'd like to hear HCS reasons on it

When I mentioned a lot of players will then not make use of it (because quite a few players don't have the EP or gold to exchange for EP to send mail), she said they would review the costs if that is the case.

ahh thanks for the info but I feel like they should at least add that option for using gold, 1. then they have a gold sink 2. gives options for those that don't have ep or don't want to waste ep on that and all that jazz.

 

however I think it's fine to add costs for mail using in game currency as most of the mmo's I've played or tried with mail systems had some kind of fee using their game currency for it and they had things in place to prevent what was mentioned  like gold scammers, spammers etc.

I was comparing my empty new message with Spirits, but i've logged on now and it costs me 5ep per item + 20 silver (20 silver to send a message).
