Kidref and me we have been friends for I don't know how long. i would have expected him to be automatically in my list but he is not. So I tried to add him and he tried to add me. But somehow this will not work and as soon as I log back in after trying to add him I get the following error message:
"Failed to add friend [Kidref]"
The same goes for Kidref, he can not add me either. Trying to add from another character does not work either.

yup I got that too for some and had that problem when kid and I were trying to add eachother. he's on it now but it happened with others. sometimes after I logged and came back it would work it'self out and other times I think I had to just wait again for both a friend and I to be on and add them.
I dont know but it's buggy.
on unrelated note : the top lists are all messed up I notice. if you click the show my rank and friends (whatever it's called) it shows me names I don't recognize and pretty sure aren't even on my friendlist and also slots where it says 'deleted' and totally looks like there is a problem with the top list pages.
other issues mentioned in other posts are no friends numbers showing up on website front page, no friends numbers listed on log in screens for game.
my guess is all the buggy stuff is all connected to the flist update and needs some kind of looksie over.
Slow but steady wins the race or something like that.
I'm just taking it slow, not sure about the steady.

they should just bring the old system back honestly.
nothing wrong with it and best of all it worked.
Getting kinda sick of the cows breaking stuff with there "improvements".

also friends are buggy in top rated lists i only see a few other friends when i switch to myself and friends
also when on the login screen right before you enter the game it used to show friends online in different servers while they now always show up as 0
and for some odd reason when i open my friends list it starts at the bottom whenever some1 gets online

I got this for Ant on the first day. Someone else on the forum had it for him too. After 2 days of error messages I guessed that he deleted his character and canceled the thing. Then I see him posting on the forums...
No biggie. I've remade my friends' list entirely over 4 times now. Another 4 months from now I'll just have to do it again.

Hey mate, the last time I logged ingame was when friendlist server crash happened, since then I have had problems with my ISP and slow speeds so I have been mainly just stalking forums .
I haven't deleted any of my characters so I am unsure why my name is having problems. Zeus was having problems with me on release day.
Hopefully I haven't lost any friends over it

Also, the reason the OP couldn't invite appears to be you or the recipient (or both) exceeded an invite sent or received limit. I guess with the refactor of existing friends its initialised you with an exceeded amount, as I think one of you has 60+ invites pending. So you may need to delete some. The current limit it 50 invites sent, 50 invites received and 200 friends. The invites of 50 each way should be more than enough, its just from the refactor you've got a bulk at the moment.
For the next update we've improved how this is reported so you should get told why the invite failed much better as I kinda skirted on it as it wasn't so diverse for the mail failing. and tracking a 'reason' why things failed can be used nicely in the guilds stuff coming too.
There should also be friends gui fixes like the scrolling annoyance mentioned above.
