We're thinking about doing something like this, probably with the easy mode (similar to your suggestion) only the final boss would have a loot table & relic, so you could still get decent stuff it would just take a lot longer. Needs a bit of thought for balancing though, we'd want to try and not destroy the queue for normal mode dungeons.

 

Ascended dungeons would probably not get a single player easy mode though, I think we still need the best rewards in the game to be on the hardest group content, seeing as the game is supposed to be multiplayer ;)

Oh and the point about repair costs, we definitely need to do something here. Perhaps dropping more green/blue loot on dungeon trash would make them more lucrative. Perhaps altering the durability value in dungeons so it's less of a burden on everyone. Perhaps just throwing money at tanks constantly, like a stream of gold just pouring into their pocket! Ok that last one was a joke ;)

I'm pretty much focused on boss mechanics for the next few weeks. Making things take longer is the cheap and easy route for us, and that's not what what my goal is at the moment.

 

So last week I was working on Rumble. I've given him a couple of new mechanics that I hope to change the fight from a pure tank and spank long boring fight into something a bit more reactionary. The goal is if you do things right you will be able to kill him in a decent time frame, but if people are sloppy he will take significantly longer and possibly cause a wipe.

 

For the ascended mode I aim for the same deal, but much harsher penalties on mistakes, along with the bosses in general hitting a good deal harder.

 

Mojawk was ok with the idea of trimming out some of the trash in the grotto, but again if were doing that I might try and give them some new mechanic that punishes lack of coordination, somehow ;p

 

Also I think Mojawk mentioned, we're probably going to switch to each boss awarding relics (still daily though), with the final bosses rewarding the most so as to still be worth doing.

 

If we let people farm the bosses constantly for relics, some people will get them all in a long weekend and be complaining that they want even better gear. We need to pace the fastest players, we just cant accommodate the rate at which some people can consume content! It is our goal for the actual endgame that grinding ascended dungeons is not the only thing to do.

I think it most likely that while the population of the game is small, we devs can do our best to deal with bots ( it's quicker and safer if we can observe them in the act ), as it grows I expect we will have dedicated support/GM type people to deal with these issues.

 

We're hesitant to go the player moderator route, we wouldn't know who to choose and then we would just have another layer of people to moderate. Moderators who if they have a bad day could affect the life of the game rather substantially ( In the middle of the night while we're all sleeping ). Some of you could be the finest examples of humble, law abiding human beings, but we don't know that from a few forum posts ;)

I've been focusing on crafting for a little while now and I wish my character experience would have gone up a lot more for the time invested. What if they gave more experience, but in the form of a bound consumable token, so people who don't want to level while crafting don't have to take the character xp?

 

Also yeah the basic gold reward amount seems pitiful, not sure why it's so low.

Another idea: Stonecraft and Carpentry for crafting houses/furnishings, and Quarrying for gathering the stone materials which Stonecraft would require.

New professions probably not for a while, though these ideas are all interesting so keep them coming ;) We are looking to make professions more interesting and useful in the near future though. We can give you more details of this once we have the 45 content out the way :)

Tinkerer: Create small mechanical devices to aid players in some way; mechanical one-use combat pets for example.

As a complementary gathering skill - Salvaging: recovering useful components such as cogs and bolts from common drops or nodes in the world.

In Warcraft you have the option to freeze xp gain, but I think it's to facilitate some achievements. They have some achievements which require completing dungeons at-level, and so often you need to spend significant time gearing at certain level ranges to achieve them. I don't think people would like those kind of achievements in Eldevin very much ;p
