crystalline gear doesn't degrade in the arena

Also, players having 'large stamina banks' is not limited exclusively to EOC and is not even relevant to this discussion. You can't possibly think it is a good idea to have game mechanics that are designed to negate character upgrades? That is just pure nonsense.
That is precisely Urck's point, Doom. Having spent all that money/effort getting a large stam bank, Urck gets to EOC and finds that the game mechanics negates the point of him having upgraded his stam bank ("not profitable" in Urck's words).
I guess you may have been restating his point, but it sure reads like the opposite.

Anyone else lagging badly?
I'd been managing to ignore lately becuase I wasn't needing to do much at any time. But it has just taken 30 minutes to walk 600 tiles in a DQ (3 seconds per tile), and they all had to be keyed individually as throughout that time clicking even 2-3 tiles away would lock it up with the "only move one tile" trap.
Unfortunately, this DQ requires 1500 tiles, so still a very long way to go...

Given how well election predictions have gone in the last 12 months, I'll start looking for my +1000 awards

I Just noticed that the creature logs are working with the "new" map again (did my first hunt since this update last night).
It is soooooo nice not having to do a little old-map walk around to gather creature stats at the start of each level when hunting beyond EOG (End-of-Guide)
Many many thanks for the effort you continue to put into this Pointy
[PS apparently this forum has a limit on the number of emoticons per post! And it doesn't tell you what that limit is, so I had to reduce the happy line three times before I got below the limt.]

If it were this low, I don't think most people would care (you never know though, some get extremely annoyed by gvg hits) but how does this teach anyone that the xp loss is not too bad when it's tweaked down this low. Is that enough of the risk people are demanding?
A point on which I'd disagree with you, Chewy.
As I've said numerous times, its not just experience (as is obvious from the GVG you noted).
If the event was to ban breaker/leach (or turn them into one-battle effects), and if it voided the enhancement that removed half weapon durability ..., then I might be happy for it to go ahead without an opt-in. But if I'm going to be in a position where lots of people are going to hit me lots of times* simply because I'm there to be hit, then I might as well go inactive as I wouldn't be doing anything else while such a global was on.
I see numerous downsides to PVP (as far as my play style is concerned - a purely subjective assessment). While hits are infrequent, and i can control (reasonably) the risk of being hit, I will live with it and enjoy the rest of the game. Its the frequency of hits increasing substantially for reasons I have no control over (as many on this thread are wanting a PVP Global to do) that will drive me to re-evaluate what I am doing here.
On the other hand, I'd be very happy to see this run with the exceptionally good rewards that Wil keeps talking about combined with an opt-in. The way one gets new customers is to entice them in. If people are convinced PVP is so much fun, then entice them in---don't force a tasteless (watered-down) version down their throats.

Why are we talking about the existing GEs as "levelling events"?
As someone has already said in this thread, you don't level far from killing level 25 critters, so you certainly don't level by doing the GE.
The rewards do typically have one excellent levelling option, but they also typically have a high armor or defense or attack option that I'd always assumed were useful for PVP. Certainly I have never needed/wanted those other options for levelling, and I presumed they had some use in the game. Was that presumption wrong?
[Edit: Drat! I'd been convinced by duktayp that this was a dead thread even if it won't lie down, and now I find myself poking it again ]

Having siad that, I agree its complicated. I reckon you need more than 40 baubles of diffrent colours, from crackers of different colours, so that you can create the lesser, standard and greater items to combine (with more different coloured baubles) into fiery/icy items that you can then combine (with yet more different coloured baubles) into the still higher level items.
But then, the forum is full of complaints that too mch of this game is mindless and too easy. Maybe this one balances things out.
[this was a follow-on from my post and Cucu's --- Pardoux's appeared while I was typing, so I was not responding specifically to him]

It is all there in the UFSG, Cucullain.
If you have original items, then there is a recipe to convert them to upgraded items.
If you don't have the original items, then there is a different recipe to create the upgraded item purely from baubles.
For example, use either Upgraded Lesser Santork Hat Recipe or Convert Lesser Santork Hat Recipe

I suggest that HCS at least doubles the range of xp needed starting from 3250, yes it will be boring, but then the number of new levels don't need to be that big.. and even 750mln per level is easy nowedays with those huge AL/LIBs we got nowedays.
The problem with this approach, Grimwald, is that it is an EOC-specific fix, and once EOC moves beyond this it will be a bane for later players who are not at EOC.
We have the same issue with the 200+ drop-less levels around 1600, which was introduced to allow more fun for those at EOC (faster content release at the time), but now is an unexpected and apparently pointless composing-void to surprise characters as they now get to the middle of game content.
I think it would be far better if HCS refrained from implementing temporary EOC-fixes as featurs of permanent content.

Lou - isn't that the bit where I talked about selecting favoured classes of quest (now edited to be a new paragraph)? Or do you mean something different?
For that bit I had in mind something like a tick-box list (palyer options page) where you can select to have, or not have: travelling; kill X; ... and/or a tickbox list for rewards (happy to be offered: current stam; max stam; ...).
Those were the two choice mechanisms I thought of (in the first instance).
