I bet you guys are grinning or sighing at our amount of questions, but this game is getting closer and human nature kicks in making us need to know more!  ;)

Are you guys all going to be moderating Eldevin on your own? I mean you are a very hard working team but your company is dotted about on your games, some leading support on said game and others developing the games further to keep them fresh. I imagine Eldevin will be keeping you guys busy and I think it was mentioned that there will be more than 'One world' for players to enter..  So the question at hand is will there be some sort of actual job openings (Not that I am interested just curious.. as cool as it would be to work with you B) ) for game staff or community staff to manage Eldevin? Or will you guys be appointing players who wish too, moderation abilities to handle small disputes in-game. I heard RuneScape uses that sort of system ( I know you have probably heard enough of being related to RuneScape  ). Or just playing it by ear and to see if your game needs that extra moderation or not?

Thats my last question off my mind so far

I'm sure the in-game forums will get some mods...if they have live chat which is quiet common in this type of game i'm sure they will need some mods for there as well and having people who play the game as some of the mods would be beneficial.

Well the reason I ask is because we all know there are the "Corrupted side" of player community's and scamming, deceiving "foul use of language" (Which some people don't like, I am not talking about just curse words. More extreme use of insulting) goes on.. So yeah moderators In-Game to pass reports on or directly mute or kick this kind of person would probably resole that..

Community staff was meaning if there will be someone managing maybe small events and such for pure fun, of course its not limited to that but I could not list all the possibility's as there is too many  <_<

We have a reasonable swear filter in place, it's not going to catch everything. And of course you are still able to swear in languages other than English.

For the beta period there will be little to no moderation after all we are a small team. I don't really know what our stance on community moderation is, but we will consider it as an option.

Thanks for the clarification of the filters and beta mods. Would there be a turn of and on so people could freely curse ;)?

To be honest, I've never had much trust in curse filters. Most of the curses are not in the words but in the combination of them (and the context).

For example, people can wish others a soon departure from this earthly world without triggering the curse filter even once. But all the while they crossed a dozen of line.

But at this moment the forum is very polite and friendly. So not a lot of moderation is needed.

But that's likely to change once the game goes live, and people get excited over things. And when things they are excited about turn bad they might get agitated. And some might feel the need to voice that on the forum.

It probably can't hurt to give forum moderation some thought for when the game is released for the broad public. ;)

I'm sure you can find a nice second language with the right curse words for your taste. tongue.png

This post was based around after beta and initial release. The majority of us here know how games get. With MMORPG's you more than likely need that extra moderation. Game experience can become unpleasing and even unplayable for some given how some people can act, scam and talk.. So yes I agree with the addition of forum mods at-least at some point (Although this is not up to us  B) ) But I think if the player base rises in the first year to maybe 30-50k active (I don't really know how game statistics rise as I haven't studied and looked into this yet) then the game would really need some GM's or players with a small amount of limited power, not effecting game play or giving them any advantage but to simply aid in muting or kicking the few exceptions.

Oh how good English curse words go with finding a godly drop or item or item in chats though  ;)

Yes, you can definitely turn it off, it's just an option but it will be on by default.

I dislike game with many servers. I only played one kind of game like that and it's terrible. I can't find the friends that I make, even if I can, they are scatterred across many servers. :(  Also, we can't find our enemy and kill them because they'll just jump to another server! T_T

AFAIK Eldevin will not be open PvP - so you won't need to hunt your enemies across servers.

Multi servers are a necessity because otherwise that 1 (or couple of) server will get very crowded. In addition, we can have dedicated PvE servers and open PvP servers if ppl will really push for it (which tbh I hope they won't).

I don't know much about how does it work but most games that I play only have 1 server. I know a game with many servers, I don't remember how many but it feels like a solo game most of the time.

PvP servers/realms are like that in most MMOs, because once the initial thrill is gone, there's nothing much to do; ppl prefer to play on PvE servers.

Now there are servers and realm/channels. If you create a char on a certain server usually you are not able to access the other servers with it, it's like playing different games. On a single server though you can have multiple realms/channels between which  your char can move with no restriction.

Just a thought throwing it out there.

If there is the option to report a player for eg. 'offensive language' or 'spamming' and a player get reported X amount withing 10 minutes the player would automatically get muted until the case is reviewed.

There should be such a system, but without an auto muting feature because it could easily be abused. Maybe just a warning message that would be triggered by multiple reports while the player is still able to wc.

There are many ways to moderate the game, bots to detect - Admins to review logs, Other games have a report feature that removes admins almost completely and the game decides a s a jury to ban or not (Picked randomly of course) - I quite like a few ideas of that,

Certain Reports - will be abused however say report (x) is made and is then passed to random players in a section in the game where they complete these trials for in-game benefits. :P

I dislike the idea of [X] amount of reports to quickly mute a player because I've seen many games that you can easily pay people to vote in your favour - abused or not :P

There should be an ignore/block list if someone needs to be muted in-game. Imo, punishments(bans, removal of chat) should only be handed out by higher powers(mods, admins). Maybe when the game gets a bigger player base, we can have that jury/tribunal system(though the final verdict should be given to the mods).
