Nice, so basically professions are improved by using them and have no bearing on character level?
In general I'd think so, yes.
But I guess there might be some situations where your level is somewhat important.
For example, if the first forest where you can chop trees has a minimum level requirement of level 3 then this profession is hard to train before level 3.
Or if there is an item that gives you a 20% learning speed to the hunting/gathering professions and it's only obtainable by completing a level 17 quest.
Will attributes contribute to professions or do they primarily feed into combat abilities alone?
No idea, but I'm actually more interested in the effect of talents on professions.
Abilities are things like "being able to wear 2-handed weapons" and "being able to cast Ice spells".
It might be interesting to know if there are abilities that are required for or boost some professions. For example, is there "the ability to equip fishing rods" and is that required to start fishing?
Talents are things like "a boost to Ice magic" and "increased effectiveness of your armour".
Can talents give boosts to professions? For example, there might be a talent called Green Fingers and it increases the output or speed of growing crops. Without the talent you can still learn the harvesting profession but it just takes a little bit longer or is less profitable.
