If you're implying that lvl 40's make more money and therefore can afford to buy the materials to power level their crafting, then I would say that is because the value of materials is too low. If crafting was more profitable (by being more useful/required), so would gathering. The gap between grinding level 40 monsters vs gathering resources would be much less.

However i'll go back on my point and say that personally, because the population is low, that it is simply not possible to buy your way to 40 in a craft all the way. There is not nearly enough supply of resources to get the amount you need, at best you can buy all of your secondary resources (coal) and then you have to gather the rest yourself.

You certainly don't level "twice as fast" unless you're talking about a skill that requires you to kill monsters (like skinning).

I can think of quite a few players that maxed a craft after leveling to 40 faster than when I put all of my time into crafting. So, effectively, they got both before I could do 1. I really doubt you could use the argument that they played more than I did either. I really am speaking from experience here.

Why else would people constantly recommend players to level to 40 first, then craft? It's because buying crafting levels is not only easier, it's much much more effective. It's just sad that there is a "right" and "wrong" way to craft in this game.

People recommend you should get to lvl 40 first because crafting isn't worth the time investment. Currently it's something you do when you have run out of ways to improve your character.

It's hard to judge your experience personally without having any numbers to back it up with. Personally I reached 40 in 2 professions and combat before even 10 people had reached level 40 alone, but that was because I played more. I bought no resources other than wool, which would've taken a day at most extra if I had to gather it all myself. And that was farming, you can't get any advantage by being higher level there. Some people just either play more, use xp pots, or spend their play time more efficiently. I did all 3.

With that said being higher level does give you access to more zones, which in some cases unlocks the best area to gather a particular resource. This game isn't designed in a way you could run around as a lvl 2 and have lvl 40 in every profession. The game world is full of monsters, compared to runescape which like 90% of the useful land had no aggressive monsters. Not to say you couldn't try to be a crafting 'pure', only it would be completely pointless and worse than just being max level because of how the zones are made.

The only way to change that fact is to put better gathering spawns in passive areas, or add more areas like greenreef and illenska that are just towns with good resource spawns in them. It would also be an improvement if you could get the dragon waypoints at any level, so people below the zone level could travel easier.

But really no matter what you change, being lvl 40 will always be better than being lvl 10 at the end of the day. The gap could become closer however.

I agree with the crafting professions needing to be more worth while at end game but why make it so that only pvpers get the best stuff not everyone wants to pvp or socialize in this game and not everyone buys off of other people some choose to work all their skills and gather everything theirselves for whatever their reason might be like not wanting to by from someone who bots or it just being they get a sense of acoplishment by doing it all themselves they need to try and keep game balanced and if they make it to where if you pvp you get the best resources or stuff in the game it is not going to stay balanced for those who choose not to pvp and not to buy from other players I don't agree with people losing gold or their belongings in the pvp area I do feel their needs to be some kind of reward better then what there is now for pvp but making players lose stuff or gold because they aren't supporters and have their max gold in the vault and their banks are full is not the way to go I love this game and when I come to forums and read how the pvpers want to make the game more about pvp it makes me wonder if I will continue to play or not I do know that if it becomes all about pvp I probably won't stay around I like working my skills and doing pretty much everything myself it is fun to me but I don't like pvp and have no desire to go to the pvp island just so someone could kill me and talke my stuff lets all keep in mind that this game is free to play and not everyone is supporters so they have a gold cap and let me also add that I think removing repair kits would be a bad idea maybe they could make them bound on purchase or something because heavy armour wears repair cost are way higher then someone who wears light armour and maybe they could make it to were we the players can repair our own gear for a minor fee if we have the crafting lvl in the skill that goes with our gear and if they do that maybe charge a wee bit more for repair kits
