Curiosity got the better of me so i went looking for images for new gear or epics what I found was this sadly. Historically this page has always had new gear images on it well before release into the game.

As much as I appreciate the free b-day cake - and I do, really! - I am sorta curious about the way it was delivered. Why not attach a little message? Something like "Yay and hurray it is our 10th birthday. Thank you for playing the game etc etc etc" ... something that shows that you (HCS) sorta really might even care a little, and not just this weird I-just-got-something-tossed-my-way-in-anger feeling I have right about now ... Some might even call that little non existing message a complete lack of costumer service/consumer understanding, but not me.. no no.... those are not my words.

What are you talking about? The reason it was delivered this way (the same way ALL gifts have been delivered over the years) is because that's how the system works. No one's had a problem with it before. 

 

If we didn't care about our players, why give things like this away in the first place? Or put a message in your logs about the upcoming Double XP Event?  Or any of the other myriad things we do for our players?

I have always had a problem with that, and I have voiced it b4. I get that I got too sarcastic in my post, and you react to that - understandable and I apologize for that.

 

It does not change my point though. Communication between developers and players is a must. If I cannot raise my concerns here, and you cannot send a little "yay for us!" note to the players, where are we going then?

I find it rude (and yes, I know this is a game and not RL) to receive a gift, without a little tag on it as to why the frag I got it ... or from whom.. or.. just a "for you"... anything. I might be old schooled, but if you treat your players like consumers, they will start acting like it - hence starting the entire "gimme value for my buck" attitude.

That is all. Wasn't meant as a biggie, just... my usual poke to see if things cannot be changed a bit in a different, perhaps better direction.

Like I said, it's how it's always worked. It's a non issue.

 

As for communicating, we talk with our players ALL THE TIME. Suggesting there is a lack of communication is ridiculous.

Happy 10th anniversary, and thanks for the cake! What I think alot of people were expecting or still hoping for, was for HCS staff to make it a more grand occasion. Even if there was no new content or update planned, posting something like a "Thank you for sticking with us for 10 years!" on the home page would have gone a long way. The cake is nice but its just a potion like any other we get at Christmas, Halloween, ect. I think we would have much rather some emotion behind it rather than 'You have received an item from...'.  

 

I think some of us were kinda surprised by how little the 10 year anniversary was addressed. The cake really only says 'Tenth Anniversary Cake' on it and thats just it, the ten years of community support for the game wasnt acknowledged anywhere else. I wouldnt be surprised if some newer players still were not even aware that the game has been around for ten years. Thats just how I feel, so hopefully you can understand that. Not getting a 'Thank you' definitely raises some eyebrows.
