I am at the 8 out of 9 Escape from the Island! and I got to the portal and went in but nothing happened when I got to the other side.

I got it it reset for some reson

you have to wait at the portal a few secs before it tells you to return to the dude who gave you the quest.. did the same thing twice before i succeeded.

i'm stuck there too

went in the portal

set the 3 scrolls

went to the top of the hill

some magic

meteors falling from the sky and elementals all over the place

ran like hell out of there

fermi won't talk to me when i get out

tried going back in and am at the top of the hill

clicking on the guy there starts the meteors falling 

run like hell out but fermi still doesn't talk to me

the 4 guys in there all died right at the end of the path

do i have to get them out alive to complete the quest?

instead of diving straight into the portal you have to hang around it till you get a quest notice update to talk to fermii.

went there and loitered for a good long while

didn't get any message (which isn't surprising, i've already spoken to her)

ran in and out again

Thanks for letting us know about this. It seems that you need to be pretty close to the portal before it will register that you've reached it. For the moment, running right up to the portal before using it should advance the quest stage. We'll look at getting a fix for this out with the next update.
