Summons for classes are being discussed more recently so I'd like to raise a suggestion that would add a player skill addition to pvp combat.

 

I couldn't think of a way to make this suggestion work for pve (mainly due to the open world of Eldevin, there are at least border restrictions in pvp zones), and since pve in Eldevin really doesn't require any thinking rather than just button mashing I don't think this would improve on it much if it could be added.

 

When in any pvp area allow player summons to be controlled by the player, allocate this use to a talent point that allows toggling between player controlled and auto controlled summon usage (or it could be a free addition without the investment of a talent point).

 

This would start separating the casual pvp player from advanced pvp players, microing in mmorpgs hasn't really ever been a thing and I believe it can be made to work here quite well.

 

Additional talent points could be added branching off from the summons allowing them to acquire abilities.

 

A standard set hotkey could be used to switch between summons and it could be changed at will in keybindings.

Some good ideas there, do you mean direct control of the creature the same as you control your avatar, or more wow style where you can command your creature to perform actions it might have available?

 

(the direct control one might be beyond the scope of how player control currently works in our engine, not sure though)

I was initially thinking direct control since it would allow players with summons to have a much more different role in pvp (and for potential future competitive pvp it would allow a much wider role in the pvp scene).

 

The difference between direct control and ability control would be that you can position your summon between players and have it target different players when you need to. You can have your summon set up to secure a kill or protect you if timed correctly (depending on the skills assigned to the summon).

 

Ability control would still be viable, personally I would see direct control as a much better addition out of the two.  Right now summons don't feel useful, yes they are in some sense but they have a delayed attack time and won't swap targets (if I remember correctly, might be wrong there).

 

Either of the two would both expand summons and make game play much more entertaining to play and to watch, but direct control if balanced properly will be much more interesting and I think it would also be unique to the genre.

can have A.S,D,W move players 1,2,3,4,5,6,7.. be player skills   and n,M,<,K move summon and y,u,i,o,p.... be summon skills (changable threw key bindings as you wish)

Damn it! I can just about work out how to use basic attack, I think I would fail so bad at this. :P

I like this, would add some much needed strat to PvP.

 

Also, like you mentioned I dont know how/if open world PvE would work, but dungeons/instances something could be done.

For tanks adding abilities that let them summon to an enemy or basically a group of them? is that what the topic is going on about?

Talent description-

_Summon behinds the enemy, does x% amount of dps damage upto 8yard radius for 7-8seconds. Generates large amount of threat.

 

 

Or you can have talent that summon you to the enemy, and have a different talent that let's every summon, summon you behind the enemy. Also adding things like stuns to such abilities, will provide a new hint of spice to tanking class + dungeons.

 

 

-some useful abilities for pvp would be , some run away abilities.

_Leaps you back to x yards.

_If you receive a killing blow you will gain 25% of your hp + leap back few yards.

 

Just quick get away mechanisms.
