Planting seeds for me doesnt work from the drop down menu (neither does scarecrow or watering can)

I was told of a way to left click on the item and drag it to where I need it, and left click again to use it, and that works well for me.

 

However, now I need to plant fungus at the roots of Trephaer and nothing is working. Instead of the cursor turning into the farming icon when I put it over the raked plot, it just stays the same and wants to destroy my fungus.

 

Am I missing something ?

OK so I just figured it out. You click plant seeds, then when the empty window comes up, you click and drag the fungus to the window. It goes in and then you press plant seeds.
