Once in a private and well hidden room he said "Before I show you to the Madame, I have something that I thought would interest you, this is her ledger.... Perhaps you would like to look over it before seeing the Madame." Handing over the large, leather bound book he smiles.
Would the Lady like some time to look over the ledger or be lead to the Madame as usual?

The clock ticked by as sunset gave way to dusk in our "sleepy little town". The jukebox played a slow big band song, setting a mood in the dimly lit bar. Smoke slithered to the ceiling from the countless ashtrays around the bar as I walked around and opened a few windows, feeling the kiss of the warm night air. Something seemed to hang in the air, like an omen, something big was going down somewhere.
At this point my eyes caught a soldier resting in a chair. The scars and look of terror in his eyes told a story of a journey to the gates of hell and back. Any gleam that once dotted this man's eyes had been taken from him, like his very soul being battered beyond any recognition of its former self.
I motioned for Opius to get him a drink on the house. It's not my place to solve people's problems, just to lend an ear when they approach me first. Besides, the slightest motion and there's no telling what this guy would do. As I was heading back towards the bar, I overheard the name of the woman who had been at the bar "Nadat".
I knew this name, she was one of Rosie's, I left it at just that. What she did to earn Rosie's cold stare that could cut through rock was not my information to know and I did not want to know. I glanced at the bottle on the bar and back at Opius, I had other things to focus on that night. The devilish grin once again returned to my face, just a couple more hours...

Her slender fingers settled around her glass, carrying it to her lips, finishing it off. She stood nervously, glancing over the room, perhaps she'd go to the club, after all, that Persephone was a show to be seen, heh, her pockets were empty, but it was always fun to sit in the back row and watch....She moved towards the door, one last look over her shoulder before pushing thru the double doors....She pulled her collar up, close to her cheeks trying to avoid the rain. A deep sigh escaped her lips as she headed down the street to visit Miss Tiger's lair.

"Of all people to see me here", she thought. "God this is embarassing"
When her song ended, she collected her tips and sauntered off-stage to her dressing room to freshen up. She changed into a long, slinky, black dress with the sides cut away, leaving little to the imagination, and a new pair of stillettos. She let her long red hair go loose and curly down her back. She hated the wigs she wore sometimes. They made her head itch something terrible.
When the next song started up, she quickly made her way out to the floor. On her way over to speak to Zara, she spied Serynity, a pretty little brunette who sometimes came to watch her shows. Persephone winked at her coyly and waved.
Zara looked up when Persephone approached her table, her face more or less nuetral. Persephone strove to look nonplussed, but was seething with embarassment inside. She smiled brightly and sat down, gesturing to the pack of cigarettes on the table before taking one. She lit one and drew from it elegantly, blowing the smoke through pouty lips.
"So Zara, what brings you here of all places? I mean, this isn't exactly the kind of place I'd expect to see you"

"Damn her", she thought as she lowered her legs from the desk and slammed them onto the floor with a resounding thump. Rolling her chair back, she stood up and grabbed her pack of cigarettes, pulling the last one out of the pack, and bringing it to her rose painted lips. She looked around for a lighter, but failed to find one. Snatching the cigarette out of her mouth, she threw it, and the empty pack into the wastebasket. "I don't need those cursed things anyway", she mumbled as she paced the room, obviously looking for something.

She pulled a note from her pocket and glanced quickly at it once again. It was from Burton. She smiled and quickly slipped the note back into her pocket before anyone noticed. She had to remember to pick something up from her friend's house before she went home tonight. IF she went home tonight...
She looked up once again and noticed that devilishly handsome grin once again. Maybe, just maybe this couldn't wait.....
"Waitress!!!!", the man at the bar called. "Be right with you sir." Opius replied. "Would you like anything else this evening?"
"Just one thing. I need to have a word in private with your boss. Do you think that could be arranged?"
"I shall certainly ask him.", She replied
"No. I do not want you to tell him that I wish to speak with him. I just need a few moments to do what I have to do."
The man at the bar appeared to be a little drunk already, and Opius wondered what he could possibly want to talk to Burton about. She had certainly never noticed him in town before. But then, she had been rather distracted of late.
"Would you like some coffee sir?" she asked.
"No, I shall be leaving very soon. Ask your boss to meet me outside in 20 minutes". The man smirked, drank down his whiskey and walked to the back exit door. She noticed he had left a small piece of paper on the bar.
She picked it up and started to read it then she felt a hand brush against my back.......
"Meet me in the wine cellar in 2 minutes" - It was Burton - "We need to fix something..." Burton walked to the end of the bar and disappeared.
Tonight was going to be busy, she could tell....

"I'll have to speak with my love later on, when I escort her to the bus depot." Hearing some noises from Madame Tigers office he grinned with satisfaction as he stepped outside for some fresh air, spotting that dirty pervert insatiable, he tipped his hat.

Opius reached into her pocket and retrieved the note the mysterious stranger had left on the bar to read it again. The note read, "BurtonX, owner of Mad Hatters Bar - investigate further...Possible link"
Opius wondered what this meant. She had known Burton for some time and knew he didnt have any direct dealings with the MD crime syndicate. Sure, he knew a lot about what went on in town, but he was never involved. She pondered over possibilities in her head and opened the door to the wine cellar.
Burton was standing on a footstool, placing something above a wine rack on the far side of the room.
"Ah! You're here", said Burton.
"Of course I am." she replied. "What needs fixing?"
Opius contemplated telling him about the curious man at the bar and the note, but decided to leave it for another 10 minutes.
"I really just wanted to get you alone for 2 minutes", replied Burton. "There is something you should know...."
Opius knew what was coming - she had known for some time. People here weren't particularly good at keeping secrets. Especially when they come into a bar. And then it clicked. She knew exactly who the man was....or at least, she had a good explanation....

A few minutes later, Rose emerged from the back with a cold smile covering her face and made her way back to the bouncer. Zara pretended not to notice the anxious glance Persephone shot in their direction… another interesting tidbit. Persephone and a brothel’s hired muscle? Very interesting indeed.
Just at the moment, Perse sauntered over to the table and made herself comfortable, taking one of Zara’s cigarettes in the process, and causing Zara to almost miss the exchange between Rose and the bouncer… Almost. What could he have that she would want? Zara filed the information away for later and turned her cold gaze towards Persephone.

The bottle of vodka lay empty on the table, a few dram glasses lay scattered about due to the incompetence of the bar staff. Just as well really... I'd probably tell them to shove off.
All this because of a woman and her need for bigger breasts. I was lucky really... The sentence was light. Due to the insanity of the judge I ended up having to model leather jackets for my community service. Crazy... It wasn't my fault. I wasn't eating pizza in the surgery. It wasn't my fault! How could I have known that she got stitched up with a bit of cheese and pepperoni within her breast.
What do I have now??
I'll tell you what I have! One empty bottle of vodka, six or seven empty dram glasses, a cellar full of archaic surgery tools and a damn leather jacket.

That took my whole morning, like I don't have better things to do. Then of course, this afternoon I had to dismiss a case concerning the bouncer and his public nudity charge. He was just a poor misguided boy.
Besides orders are orders, and money is money.
Now if that scum of a sheriff would get to work..........

She glances up from staring at the pavement when she hears a soft meow in the gloom. She creeps forwards, anxious to make no noise and sees a small cat in the corner. Reaching into her pocket she looks around to check that no-one is around and satisfied that all is clear, she scoops the cat into the bag she pulled out before running off.

Rose looked lovely as usual, well, as lovely as the fury of Seven hells in a business suit can look, its a shame that pure evil looked so heavenly, for he knew one day, that girl would string him up, he only hoped she sampled him first... assuming after she did, he could talk his way out of anything...
Deciding against the open door that the disturbingly large Mideon was offering, he headed toward the bar. Why hit a strip club, to pay for something that he could have for free after closing time anyway? He knew they'd come looking for him in droves, even fighting for him on occasion, even the lovely one, Persy... even if she only played with him publicly to keep the others from knowing of her feelings for the small minded giant, who had made his position known in the dark alleyway... christ, i still taste brick from that night....
Ahhh, this old ruinistic tavern, i mean bar... Hatters... whatever... heh
Noticing a small gathering of the usual nightmares gathered at the bar, and the grinning bastard urt no where to be found... he hops up and over the bar, so fast the drunk sheriff in the corner slurs the word "port?" He grins at the barstool mushrooms watching on, digging around the liquor till he feels what he's looking for, a lovely squared off bottle, and hopefully not the last one under there.......
Absinthe, oh my sweet lord, while it makes most men cringe and girls whine over the taste, it was the gods nectar when it hit his tongue. He slams a platinum colored coin the size of his palm into the bartop, leaving it stuck in the old wooden top a good quarter of an inch, and grabs the sugar, a bottle of water, and sits himself at the empty end of the bar, facing the door....
"Burton is gonna kill me, as usual, but until he gets back to the bar, its mine", he thinks to himself as he fills the ashtray with lighter fluid and lights his little "parodrial" blaze, filling a spoon with water and suger to melt over it. Stirring the melted sugar into the glass, watching it go milky, he downs it, and prays that that green fairy will join him quickly tonight.

He walks up to the bar and gets a bourbon from Burton, knowing how well this bar has access to good alcohol. He walks over to where Nadat is sitting with a man in a long coat. "Nadat," he greets her. "I hope you've learned not to mess with MD now. Rose has a way of persuading people. That's why she instructed me to make that plea deal. But so you know, she wanted to make it a full year. I talked her down to 8 months.
He knocks back the rest of his drink and walks back to the bar. He doesnt want to be close to her for very long. She makes him nervous, and so does the man, who he thinks he knows from somewhere.

He woke with a start. Sitting bolt upright, hands automatically drawing revolver and blade, scanning for any sign of threat. It seemed there was no immediate threat, then what the hell woke him that suddenly. Then he noticed the barmaid Opius, walking towards the back room with a smile on her face casting a wink in his direction. Damn that woman gets a perverse pleasure out of waking me like that.
"One of these days that woman is going to get herself shot, or worse." he muttered with a grin and a glare towards the now laughing Opius.
Sheathing his weapons he noticed a half smoked cigar lying on the floor under his table. Must have fallen there some time after he had passed out this morning. Briefly examining, and dusting it off a bit, he shrugs, and lights it up again, expertly bringing the cigar back to life once more. ahhhh....
It may not be the wisest thing to pass out in a place like the Hatters but dispite appearances, he was a light sleeper, no matter the amount of alcohol involved, and relativly safe here. Taking a quick inventory of his booth, he noticed that Opius had once again cleaned up while he lay there in a drunken stupor. That he didn't wake must surely be a sign that he trusts the damndable woman on some level...
Throwing back the fresh tripple scotch Opius had left him to rid his mouth of that "someone pissed in an astray taste" he surveyed the room once again. The regulars abound tonight, though some stand out more than others...
Nadat, out of jail for 10 minutes and already on the prowl. Hope this guy can handle her. Though he looks like trouble himself. hmm... he could be a good someone to get to know, for one reason or another...
And trying to slink out unnoticed, Serynity. Wonder what information she gleaned in here tonight. Well, if it's useful, she'll come to me with it.
Sitting alone, and looking a bit paranoid, is someone who has the look of a fellow veteran. Damn, he looks in rough shape. I'll be sure to send a few drinks his way when Burton comes back. Where the hell did that man get to, he thinks, I am getting parched.
As the doors swing open, he notices that it seems rather "dark and couldy" out there this evening. Sauntering through those opened doors comes the town gigilo. Upon seeing the bar unmanned he hops it and begins to search for his favorite poison. When he finds it, he'd better bring some my way. I could some of that particular bottles contents tonight.
Catching insatiables eye he waves him over "Bring that bottle of yours, and an extra glass."
It's gonna be one of those nights.

"Ah ha!", bending down to retrieve it with shining blood red fingernails, Madame Tiger smiled. "Things like this shouldn't be left out on accident.", she thought, as she opened the envelope and re-read what was written on the paper inside, her eyes glowing with mirth and mischeviousness.
As she returned the paper to the envelope, she glanced at her desktop where the "ledger" she planted had lain. She giggled to herself as she remembered the tricks she had put Mideon through just to make him think he had her 'under his seduction' so he could steal the book. If Persephone only knew what her 'sweet love' had done to get that book!
"Oh yes," she spoke to the air, "I know about your affair my sweet little Pandora. Would it shock you to know that I've known for months? I wonder what your reaction will be when you finally find out that despite the twist it put in my plan, it actually IMPROVED it?"
Snatching her hairbrush off the desk, she poised it over her head as she turned to the mirror. Staring into her own image, she stopped just as the brush reached her forehead, never touching her hair. "Ha! Perfection as usual!", she admired herself for a moment before putting the brush down.
With a beautiful stage smile, she opened the door, and left the room.
