We are no longer dedicating a full development team to Eldevin. If we did, there would be no Eldevin at all in a very short time, and no other HCS games either.

If it's that bad to affect other HCS games as well then I suppose on Eldevin's case it's safe to assume that until a miracle happens, all that's being done is delay the inevitable.

It would seem that the only way for Eldevin to get on its feet again is for there to be a great influx of players but how exactly is that gonna happen without any serious effort to advertise the game. But then again advertising the game means more costs which then again Eldevin can't sustain either.

I could be wrong but yeah lol, geez this is depressing ^

Thank you Mojawk. I wouldn't have cared (I only want discounts on chocolate inrl lol) but I imagine you're taking some time and effort to include it.

What is curious about all this is that I have seen a constant flow of new players .. especially on the US server...  but the game is not retaining them... why? because there is no care and feeding coming from HC... advertising gets players *to* the game but retaining them requires nurturing... this doesn't have to be massive new content.. it could be a simple as maintaining a dialogue with the community... c'mon HC get wise!!!  Surely there is somebody on the staff that can listen to and respond.  I'll bet even telling the Eldevin community what you're doing every day even if its not Eldevin might be better than silence and non response.

HCS Promote your game and maybe someone will come and play.....
You are bitching about not getting enough money from players, but on other hand you are not doing anything to

I think, to be fair, I have heard absolutely no bitching from HCS. There has been a lot of bitching from players, but "silent" is probably a more appropriate descriptor for HCS.

Just to confirm, the development update that Mojawk posted in June still applies:

https://forums.hunte...showtopic=74316

We are no longer dedicating a full development team to Eldevin. If we did, there would be no Eldevin at all in a very short time, and no other HCS games either. I know it's disappointing to our loyal players, and it's a disappointment to us as well. But we are a small team doing the best we can.

We have never made promises or advertised exactly when updates, including level 50, will come since we knew these things would depend on any number of factors. So Kezza, no, we have not broken any rules. The game features in the game right now are exactly what we advertise and claim.

Some of responses to this thread have been edited because they were needlessly inflammatory. We don't mind criticism and feedback but as always, keep your conduct on the forums civil. Thank you.

sorry phurie, but i have always backed HCS from day one, as you may see in past posts, but, yes this game was advertised as a level 50 game from beta to general release, but there was also false promise on SS2 as well, so, if a dev studio can't fulfill it's own promise what chance has it got of surviving? so there was no promise of exactly when updates/ level 50 would be released?  then give the loyal players a rough idea (and i don't mean HCS time) stop developing games purely as a cash cow, now, i understand that we all have to earn real cash but as i work for myself i know that long term clients are more valuable than the occasional client (although, i strive to satisfy both) bread and butter if you know what i mean, still HCS are in breach and and i can see credit card company's having a field day with this.

I do agree with you Fiz that there isn't the support for long term players, but it seems to be the norm nowadays. For small businesses and one man bands, loyalty and customer retention is vital as you have a small catchment area so a small amount of potential customers, but for larger businesses and far reaching ones such as internet based businesses, there isn't the need to keep people as someone else will come along to take their places. It's more about getting the initial cash from people then leave them to it as another one will turn up soon enough (energy and insurance companies are prime examples).

As the game is now.

We have players who are still paying supporter membership in a hope things will change.

Then there are new players who are turning up now and again,as gotan mentioned, and they don't stay long, but in that short time, a fair percentage of them will have payed real money as a supporter or to buy EP. I recall one member who showed her payments in a forum post a long time ago and in one month alone i think she had payed about $1400 :o Two or three of them a month and you have a nice income just for letting the game continue. If i recall she was from an asian country (I did mention in a previous post that putting more effort into adveritsing the game would bring in players from asain countries who seem to like their mmo games).

I can't comment about the lvl50 promise as I joined once the game was fully going ( a couple of months before steam joined), and unfortunately HCS seem to update they first page as much as they update the game as it still says "Initial release of 40 levels" (even though we are up to 49lvls now).

It does, however, say "with awesome end-game and consistent updates". There doesn't seem to be an end-game any time soon, awesome or otherwise(even though the game has been going for several years now), and the updates certainly aren't consistent.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

If developments updates are being confirmed, how about this one made over a year ago (5 months before HCS decided they weren't continuing with a FULL development team) including a quote saying the next few months, so march or april, there was planned to be"bonus experience events" (which never arrived).

https://forums.hunte...ic=73856&page=1

Seeing HCS keep emphasising the FULL development team. How is the partial team getting on with finishing lvl50 (considering HCS said it was nearly there sometime in mid 2015), the scribe profession and the bonus experience events.

The so called update at the beginning of the year

https://forums.hunte...ic=74851&page=1

as you saw by all the feedback in the thread HCS went down like a lead ballon with the majority or long time players annd made a step back (downdate) not forward.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I realise HCS is just a business and only interested in making money, but for goodness sake, surely more money can be made by making fully working and finished games that can be played long into the future (so ongoing income) with the advertising to get more people to join, rather than partial, buggy ones that people only find by accident.

When in doubt. Blame lag ;)

True...its been a while since I've last checked up on this game, but it seems its still stuck at lvl 49 content rofl. No incentive for me to even bother lvling up to 49 I suppose. Dead game just like Sigmastorm. it's really a pity, because this game really did have a ton of potential more so than fallensword really =/ It's just a matter of how a dev team handles a game really. If a indie team of 14 people can make a game like Unravel. Pretty sure HCS can make a decent game out of Eldevin too =/

Soooooooo when HCS came out on steam and a tonne of new players swarmed the game and the devs were constantly on here promising the sun moon and stars, did they did not care and feed for new players ?? . Now they may have released or focused on all the most irrelevant silly things possible and gimmicks. But they still were feeding the machine with sunshine and lollipops and stories of everything is going to be magical.

I think even after this time, you all got content up to lvl 49. The pop still declined, it is just a game that could not hold the pop and refer to my first paragraph. It is now not because they are suddenly ignoring the game that the pop is low or can't hold a pop, the people in this thread are now almost living in delusional land and denial about the game is near closed. Just accept and stop putting all your eggs in one basket and living in groundhog day, no ???

O well

Hmm, after reading all this, as a new player is it a bad idea to check out Eldevin?

I just made an account yesterday to check out their games, Fallen Sword and Eldevin seemed most appealing from descriptions. Mostly cause I like old school games, MUDs(graphical and text), Sandbox MMOs, Dungeon Crawl MMOs etc

Hi, Monomaxos :)

I won't say it is a bad idea checking out Eldevin because there are lots to do there and might be just what you are looking for. Like any game it has its fair amount of good and bad criticism and the best is to go judge for yourself.

All I can say is that I am playing Eldevin for 2 years now and never regretted giving it a try and as I said in a previous post... It is a winner and one day it will get the spotlight it deserves

Thank you for the feedback and that is all we want.. Just to know that there are still an interest even from a small team :)

Don't get us wrong Mono, we all think this is an absolutely excellent game, thats we are so passionate andfrustrated about the lack of support from the makers.

It's just this game has been going for at least 3 years on top of the beta testing and it still has no endgame. When you have been playing for a few years, supported the game and been told there will be this update or that update, but then it doesn't arrive coupled with bugs not getting fixed and then after a longtime to be told the development is being scaled down due to lack of support (even though the lack of support is because the makers didn't advertise the game in the first place), I am sure you can understand we get rather frustrated to say the least.

Sorry about the long sentences and poor punctuation on this post, but you get the general idea :D

the people in this thread are now almost living in delusional land and denial about the game is near closed.

The game may be near its death indeed, it has the symptoms for over a year now in fact.

However, you can't really blame the people who are still playing the game and still fighting for an update that's just how much we love Eldevin. Both those who defend and complain about HCS' decisions with regard to Eldevin have one thing in common, they all want Eldevin to continue on, progress and get back on its feet. Given what we all know Eldevin has offered and can still offer in the future, it's normal for people to hold on.

I personally choose to believe that Eldevin is going to continue on till it has level 1,000,000 content. Though I'm completely aware what the facts are showing me ATM.

Looking at it objectively, there are numerous outcomes for Eldevin, such as:

1. Eldevin will end. (Most likely, everything ends even successful games that have been up for a decade end.)

2. Eldevin will keep going on its current state for a few more months/years for as long as the status quo remains. (Plausible)

3. Eldevin will get back on its feet due to HCS acquiring the funds for it. (Not likely, but plausible)

4. Eldevin will prosper again due to receiving funding from me who just became filthy rich and have access to unlimited $$$ for developing a cure for everything and I will buy a house and lot + a ferrari for each Eldevin player. (Yeah, totally in my dreams.)

Please tell me, is my mental state still questionable?

EDIT: ..... Well never mind, I'm pretty sure it is LOL.

Eldevin just needs to be bought out by another developer group that will finally allow Eldevin to get out of this current deadlock ...

And I think it is up to us, user or former user, to find this developer group, it is up to us to make this publicity.
