Shadowcaster and Intensify Spirit (Prophet Talent)

So I finally found whats making it impossible, for any group that has me as healer, to defeat Shadowcaster.

 

Intensify Spirit

-  Your Critical Heals increase the targets maximum health by 10% for 15 seconds

 

This is a talent that works on Revitalize, Crimson Chain and Dark Prayer. Crimson Chain beeing my main source of healing and is used to keep everyone healthy at Shadowcaster. Crimson Chain/Dark Prayer will then apply Intensify Spirit to our tank from time to time, and when Shadowcaster steals that buff he gains 10% max HP but also 10% more current HP. If he dont have max HP already, he wont lose the extra 10% current HP when Intensify Spirit runs out on him.

So if Shadowcaster has 1m hp left and gets Intensify Spirit he gains about 128k HP as about 10% of his max HP. Basicly healing himself up to 1.128m HP. When buff runs out he would stay at the HP we took him down to again. Which sometimes is less than he healed for.

 

3 times now, have I been in a group and taking him down to 900k HP before he wipes us. While other healers have beaten him.

I think we'll change this so he doesn't steal Intensify Spirit in the next update.

yeah i was actually about ready to respec to beat him, but i dont mind waiting for an update if they hotfix it soon, but i have to say even tho i cant beat  him with my build hes good fun to try :D

We had a healer with intensify spirit, and managed to bring him down to 240k hp.  If we are allowed to use food/pots and other buffs, we might have been able to down him even with him stealing intensify spirit.

I hope you do change it. Imagine making a boss so that his damage increases 10% every time a melee crit is landed on him?

Done it many times now, all you need to do is increase enrage timer from 10mins to 12 mins, so we have enough time to pile that puppy before it enrage into a dino which ones hits everything.

 

Change: Enrage timer increase from 10 mins to 12 mins

I think it's an opportunity to make the 2 instances different. Tombs as longer, more challenging, greater rewards. Grotto as shorter and easier for people not as geared or for people with not much time to play.

That is a good suggestion. Not everyone can afford to run a dungeon for 1 hr every day and with as many runs as will be needed to get a set, it will be hard to get. 1 full length dungeon with x amt of items in boss chests and awards y amt relic tokens, while other dungeon is half the time to complete, x/2 items in chests, and y/2 relic tokens awarded. Make skill difficulty same for each, just amount of time needed shortened.

tested it out, yes zook is 100% right.

So am I right, that you can use all other buffs/pots and the boss won't heal? Aside from %hp buffs and %hp heall buffs like snowfall of course...

Hmm. It'd suck if he'd remove all buffs at once from everyone. Maybe make it so he removes randomly 4 or 5 buffs from everyone in party. 

 

And I'm kinda excited to see what the new pots will be. Hopefully something nice, or something fun like drink a pot and turn into a squirrel for an hour.

Shadowcaster is doable with buffs/potions, but you need to pick which ones.  He only heals from those that increase %hp (intensify spirit), and increase %hp/second (snowfall, etc).  Still need to choose which buffs you use though, we did full buff, and he pretty much killed the tank because of warrior buff + 10% attack power potion.  In general, those that do not increase his stats by a % is safe to use - all types of food, fleetfoot, haste, focused, enlighten; along with defensive/offensive stance, some of the more specific buffs like torrent and concealed, are all ok, and have to test for others more.  He also steals the buffs from templars/warriors more often, like it only steals my thrill of the hunt whenever he comes close to me, so it might also be based on proximity or threat.
