As usual a nice wall of text Egami lol

It is a good idea. I'd be for it as a third ranking.

I remember someone suggesting to add one more list on every 'Top Rated" list:

- Active: Showing the Active Top Rated players on a category (Medals would count using that list).
- Overall: Showing all the Top Rated players on a category (Medals would NOT count using that list).

For me that is the best option for every Top Rated list.

That is really how I feel as well. I think it satisfies "everybody". Those who are up and coming (whether a low level or just new to the particular game aspect) and those who are more interested in legacy records.

I just started here because the need for two in the same ranking was already recognized by HCS (Actual and Locked) and I've seen more excitement regarding the issue in the boxes.

I just didn't want to sidetrack with what I considered to be the bigger issue (activity) and I thought focusing on one of the topics would cut down on the discussions over the pros and cons all the different rankings. One step at a time. But thanks for bringing it up (o0

You gotta love though that the intro was a short 5 lines with the a text-wall warning afterwards, hehe. I'm thinking of you guys, lmao.

Thanks for throwing in input Gooner.

97 voted so far... Hoping to hit that 100 no matter where the votes go. Then I'll... well, *scratches head*, hmmm... do something, lol.

^ Sounds misleading after reading it to myself a few times. Should have a small change. Should HCS implemend a third additional Guild XP ranking based on ACTIVE players.

I don't really see the difference, but regardless think it's a bit late for a language change.

In any case, I think the five-line proposal at the beginning hopefully makes it clear enough.

Thanks though. (o0

We actually managed to pull in over 100 votes a bit ago. I'd like to thank everyone who voted so far.

A few people have told me they plan on taking a look this weekend, so please continue to vote (no matter which way) and let FS know about the thread while getting your opinion in.

If anybody doesn't feel comfortable commenting here in the forum but has doubts/questions/comments I'm happy to receive them in my log.... whether you vote or not and whether you agree or not.

I've only had one pm I read as "angry", but I get what they were referring to. It wasn't angry at me... and well, all I could was tell them I couldn't possibly fix the world.

Anyway, whatever you need to say, please do. If we all agreed, life and this game would be boring.

Thanks again... please spread the word. If there is one thing I'd like to see in this post, above and beyond the outcome, it's some participation. And hey, it gives ya something to do while waiting for the now-official double XP! lmao.

Bump... I hope with the double XP that more might come in to vote and see this. With the cows taking off for vacation, I hope to draw some attention here in the New Year.

With the holiday season over, I'm going to attempt to get HCS to take a look at the results. Thanks to everybody who took the time to participate. Keep voting and spreading the word.

If HCS decides that the idea is not worth pursuing, please simply lock this post. Many thanks whatever the outcome.

Prosperous smacking in 2016! (o0

i like this idea but i think auto refresh would ruin it and youre right about gxp doesnt say anything about activity

Then ban use of auto-refreshing. Problem as well as bogus farming of gold below value while afk in buff market solved. That and we'd get a real picture of actual activity.

its not that easy to just ban something that was allowed forever...won't work the players won't have it. Would hurt the game if cows had to start banning those people for next to no reason.

Imo Xp lock is an archaic metric anyhow. Either way people leaving or being kicked results in a drop in the metric that matters (Actual GXP) Get rid of XP lock completely, and add this mechanic in its place. Actual XP for the main metric for evaluating a guild, with Active Guild XP as the secondary. Most of us who are active can blitz through a big hit these days anyhow with a few higher level members doing a hunt.

The problem with banning something like Auto-Refresh is it is not a script.  It's a browser add-on that doesn't make any changes to the game.  Plus, like Epic said, the fact that it has been allowed from the start, HCS would see a lot of opposition if they try to ban it now.  Even if they did want to ban it, players would find a way around it by configuring a random refresh interval (instead of every minute or every 5 minutes, they could set it to refresh at 3 min then 1 min then 5 min, etc making it impossible to determine if it is automated).  This would be a nightmare to try to ban.

I'm just citing that as the only solution to that problem that was raised. As to the buff selling that's part of why it wouldn't be allowed by players to be gotten rid of, but that's not relevant to the topic.

Plus I doubt theres anyone who is on FS and is afk 30 days in a row, and if they are....I have nothing coherent to say to that.

I have actually known players to regularly go offline for long periods of time like that but they are clearly not the norm.  No system, no matter how thorough, will be able to account for all the odd cases out there.  You can only do so much so no point in worrying too much about such things.  Plus, if a player goes off line for a month at a time on vacation or whatever, I really doubt they will be concerned about their inactivity not being counted - when they come back online, it can be picked back up.

I'm happy to see that people are still discussing this issue and that there are more votes in. (o0

For the record, I have not at all forgotten about this topic. I just didn't want to be pushy bumping it all the time. My current hope was to bump it around 10:00 ST with the hope that it might come up on HCS radar during their business hours. For a comment towards whatever end.

Anyway, yes... I don't think the auto-refresh issue is relevant for this suggestion. I don't really want to go into why so as not to derail, but hey, lol.

As far as whether going offline for whatever reason for 30 days is the norm or not... it also seems a bit irrelevant to me. I can say that I was contacted by a quite a few players and GFs via pms. In order, according to the pms I received, the reasons for 30-day inactivity was military service, school and vacation. In all those cases, players expressed their support for the idea because those that had left, for whatever reason, would have their XP contributed reinstated when they log back on with the corresponding effect on their Guild ranking.

Just as background in case people came in late, I'll try to summarize a tiny bit some of my thoughts relative to the original post in the thread that relate to what's come up since last I bumped:

I did NOT outright suggest that the XP locked ranking be removed. This was first and foremost because I believed in the legacy factor and felt that the reason it was originally implemented could rear its head again.

I had a huge internal debate with the time frame for the consideration. When the thought first sparked, I was really thinking seven days (FSH brown dot theory). I ended up moving for 30 days for several reasons which I will spare all of you, lmao. The most relevant to me was that it is the time-frame by which HCS programming titles a player as "inactive". So, pre-defined by HCS and then also hoping that it might be "easier" to code with that parameter already in place.

Anyway, many thanks to everybody for taking the time and the discussion. Keep passing on and voting whatever way. (o0

I think with so many votes and posts this warrents some hcs input :P. Think with this it would help new players find active guilds that will keep them active. Opposed to joining an inactive guild and going inactive themselves. Maybe it's just me but if I didn't have the specs to join any guild I'd much rather find a active lower rank guild to join opposed to a higher rank inactive guild.

This is all nice, BUT what I would like to see is  something that would encourage  active, thriving guilds to actively recruit NOOBS.  The game needs ''growth'', and to many new people quit the before ever getting started OR are recruited / join  low activity guilds then die from boredom  ---- mentorship hasn't worked so well but was a step in the right direction.... Not sure what it would take as incentive for guilds to take, suit, buff and train noobs  because they do come with baggage to deal with. I guess this is the main reason they are not actively pursued and die on the vine guildless
