It depends how big your screen is. I could fit more then 12 when I tried it.

The way I understand it:
As long as someone stays connected to Eldevin, or even just steam afaik, if you dont kick them they stay in the party.
Just keep inviting new people, you can have 5 online and any number of disconnected people you want.
At first I thought it was just rerolls of the 5 first members, but it looks like no, you can have anyone as long as there's only 5 offline and the ones who disconnect dont lose their connection to steam/eldevin.

a group max is 5 ONLINE players you can inv more if members are offline eg if you have 4 online and 1 offline you can inv one more ... if you have 2 online and 6 offline that are in the group you can inv 3 more ....
