#1006517 Epics: Not Looking so Epic

Great work Toreth, you put a lot of thought into this and it shows. I feel like this is a great idea to help encourage activity which is always a plus. It would make all epics relatively useful in other ways besides stam gain. I can think of applications to Arena, GvG, Relics battles, PvP and basically all the parts of what make FS what it is.

 

It would also probably drive the price up since demand would be higher. Which in turn would make titan (or whatever else you do to get epics) hunting worth something again so hopefully the stam used would be outweighed by the FSP gained. I also think some consistency in a stat formula would be amazing. That way you could kind of predict what pieces of gear you'd need to make stronger sets.

 

Usually it's hard to affect positive change for all players, but something like this could only help FS. In order for this to work though I imagine that all the formulas for existing gear would need to be changed to the updated version. I don't think it would be as effective if it was just everything moving forward.

 

I fully support this and look forward to a positive response from the devs. Thanks for listening.

I'll consider Find Item. Not entirely sold on Conserve needing the minor crank though. 

Fair, i do think con 650 won't cause any problems especially at the level suggested.

 

I think this should be 700 which is a massive decrease from the original proposal, but it sounds like 650 is already on the chopping block, so I'll agree that 650 is not game breaking and won't affect anything.

 

Potion of Divine Knowledge. Loyalty:  500 > 750
 
Adept Learner Level : 600 > 700 Duration : 120m
Librarian Level : 600 > 650 Duration : 120m

This encroachs on the Easter Global, which is successful due to being a once a year event. Don't want to harm that.

 

The main draw to easter global would be the PvP potion and OK1000 as this is one of the main ways to achieve this.

 

My reasoning for this is identical.  I would like AL to be at least 800 and Librarian to be at least 800, but understand the likelihood of that happening is slim to nil, so I'll agree with AL 700, but would still like to see Librarian 800.

On a poll you can't explain your reasoning, on the forums you can. Much more worth from less feedback, yet constructive.

 

Yes, you can by providing an explanation on the survey in a given field.  Plus, more people will fill out a survey than write out a post on the forum.  I made a quick sample survey of what it could look like and I'm happy to do the whole thing if that's how it gets done.  A survey also provides an unbiased look into opinions where vocal vs. non-vocal does not matter.  I think many more people would appriciate the anonymity.

Hello Everyone,

 

It's a surprise to no one that arena is dated and needs some help.

 

I come forth with a simple and easy change to help arena overall.

 

The 25% Guild mate arena rule should be changed to the following.

 

Joining with all your own gear = bypass 25% rule

Joining with Guild Tagged gear = 25% rule applies

 

Arena is a solo activity, if you are joining an arena with your own personal gear it has nothing to do with your guild mates. If you are joining with guild tagged gear then it makes sense for the 25% rule to apply to them.

 

The only thing I can possibly see people saying would be "collusion", but let's think about this realistically. Being in the same guild has nothing to do with that. With our access to communication in Realtime 24/7 across various platforms such as discord etc where many unique people are connected, this does not really apply.

 

I think this is a fine change. I've done very minimal Arena compared to others, but I don't really see an issue.  Hopefully it would promote some gear sales in the AH as well.

I think Adept Learner for this potion should be increased to 800 (which is a compromise from the original) and I think Librarian should be 800 as well, which is another compromise.

I still think this should be Animal Magnetism 500, but 450 is okay.  Conserve should be 850 which is right in the middle of the original proposal and I think is a fair trade off.

It's not surprising that Distil 250 was removed with all the vocal people, but I can understand.

I feel that we are getting to a good place and compromising with the loyalty potion propositions.  I do appreciate all the feedback, and all I ask is that other players read this and try to compromise as well.  I think we can get to a solid place that will benefit the game as a whole.

The following seem okay and suitable, all other potion proposals then a big NO from me, you will break the game.

 

How will this break the game?  That term is being used SO often, and no one can explain to me how.  What so many people are overlooking is that this part of the game has been untouched for years.  Loyal players AND donors should have the opportunity to use their tokens for something.  These potions are that opportunity.  Another part of this that players overlook is that there needs to be income coming in so that HCS can actually make the changes they want to.  The best way to increase income is to incentivize donations.  Make it appealing to donate and support the game.

HCS: you REALLY need to rethink this - WIN buttons are not a good thing. Also - if players can get the best potions available for tokens... Why would they ever donate?

 

I don't see this as a "Win" button at all.  There are probably two main purposes of this update / FS in general : Fun and to generate revenue.  Games also need money to improve which is what we all want for Fallen Sword.

 

There are also many other ways to play FS that do not involve leveling which I'm guessing is what you are thinking of.  Will these potions help with leveling, absolutely, but I know that SOME players really don't like leveling because of how painful it can get, and this alleviates that.  I think a "Win" button would need to affect titan hunting, arena'ing, pvp'ing, composing, auction house'ing, SE hunting and anything else I missed that is included in this game we all love.   This update also will encourage players to donate more because there is now more of a reason TO donate.

Honestly, I love these changes! It gives new players/veterans incentive to spend and we all know that money makes this game go around.  People who choose to spend money to support the game should be rewarded and these rewards are fitting.

 

For those who think Distil 250 is not a good idea, I'm trying to understand why? Yes, we'll be able to push potions high(er), but why is that bad for the game?  I feel like players enjoy feeling strong and able to check their stats out and compare.

 

Yes, many of the chest potions will be not as powerful, but I imagine the Devs have thought about that and will adjust the donation chest awards.

 

So it's a hard YES from me and I feel this update is long overdue.  Thank you BG and the rest of HCS for your continued work.

Is he though? I understand that this is not a great weekend for this to happen, but to leave a game broken for 3-5 days is terrible.  You don't really see many other games where the devs just kind of decide not to fix the issue.  Also, Happy Easter!
