#979572 It's about time to balance out those overpowered pots in PvP.

Posted by yotwehc on 15 April 2017 - 16:23

As far as combat goes, the PvP Arena is indeed the pinnacle point of balance and perhaps regular PvP should learn something from it, no? Sadly, I find that it lacks the competitive thrill of a dynamic, ongoing fight towards a goal like we see in GvG, bounty hunting, or the ladder.

Most arguing to nullify the pots aren't interested in the competitive thrill. Pvp is used as a tool to punish. Not as a tool for a fun online battle of the willing. The pots turn a checkers match into a chess match and man do I stink at chess. Anyway, although folks claim HCS is the last word, they still complain so...

I really see very little cost/benefit for HCS to nerf. I think there are bigger fish to fry. Making the change is not going to bring back hordes of players. Might lose some

Would setting a max skill cap across PvP in general be a better idea? Or apply some form of diminishing return like I suggested before when high levels of the skills are used in PvP?

I prefer the latter but I'm open to ideas on it :)

I don't like the idea of capping pvp either. Making the change isn't suddenly going to make pvp wildly popular. Quite the opposite. The higher level pots give lower levels a chance to beat up on the high levels. I'm a prime example. I get beat up all the time by players way below.

The question should be, will this dev change improve pvp and increase participation. If it does, go for it otherwise a waste of precious development resources for the small voacal few to be able to retain their dominance while offline. Pots encourage online play and I think that is the point?

Ok just want to reassure people that we're not going to start changing things randomly without some thought :)

However - I do want to understand what skills people do feel are OP and look for workable solutions to help improve the game. So I have few questions:

Is the main issue here with the skills in PvP? (I'm assuming yes but want to hear opinions).

Looking at mary4ever's post, am I right in assuming it is just skills which affect stats?

What do you think the best solution to this is? (Please try to be constructive ;) )

I think you have it backwards... Aside from some of the new seasonal titans, the pots could be considered "OP."

For PVP, the pots encourage players to be onlines (as it should?). You have to be online to pot up. If a player want to be super potted for 48 hours, more power to him/her. I'd rather lose 5 levels myself than to waste that many resources.

Some want the easy button sometimes but not at other times ;-p

Is there specific buffs you feel are overpowered at high levels? Could you give me some examples?

This is disappointing. You're actually considering the complaints of a small vocal minority? Some of these guys beat me up constantly even while I use these "op" pots and they don't.

Take me as a great example of losing despite access to the lvl 60 pots. I lose to players 1,000's of levels below me. Sure, I'm a noob but it's not a guarantee win despite many folks who say it is.

The great thing about the pots is it encourages players to be online. Buffing your offline friends so they can win in pvp seems like what you are advocating for. Live pvp is the best thing ever. Try it. And the pots make it even more fun especially when the wee players are schooling you with regular buffs. I always send them compliments. They deserve medals. David and Goliath achievement!

#976566 treasure chest count

I think that'd be cool to add. Wouldn't push for it as a priority, but sounds "right" to me.

Personally, never got why those things were added to "character stats".

There's tons of things now that could be added under the logic that got SE kills and Arena wins in there.

I'd kind of be for a "newer"  and separate section in the profile.

Then we could add what cucu said and Titan Kills, DQ completions... and tons of other things that I think could be more "arguable".

I want wins/losses in pvp...

yotwehc:

wins - 1

losses - 9,876

sorry... these suggestions only further the power bigger guilds have reinforcing gvp and not pvp.

If they can improve Titan hunting with Titan doubler and teleport, I would hope a buff to make SE or chest finding a little less tedious would be great. Not as easy as the OP's original suggestion but still an improvement on that game play. Make it 2 separate buffs even. Not game breaking imho.

How about a new buff? That will auto stop you if you are walking across the map and you happen to step on a square with an SE or chest? Going one square at a time and waiting for the action tab to refresh is... not fun...

#975460 Small idea

Sorry Egami,

I have to completely disagree with your post #12.

Guilds can be tremendously helpful for new players. It's respectable that some players want to play solo but I believe they are the exception than the rule. As you point out, the social aspect is one of the best features of FS and going solo doesn't really help getting more social, no?

My only evidence against you is my own play. I was touch and go in my early play in FS. I was having fun in the beginning collecting gear and leveling up until I met the snow leopard. Until a random person offered me to join his guild, I thought... meh... why not... I really started to kick butt after that but still learn things even today... without a guild, I probably would have quit like i have many other games that I have tried. I reach a point where I can't get any further... ask for help... get a little but not enough so I quit.

#974641 PVP Seasons as a Global

Posted by yotwehc on 30 December 2016 - 02:41

the last seasons was a pillow fight by standard pvp definition but it was fun   :D   :)

Most players dont find standard pvp to be fun (usually cuz they are the 2nd P and its no fun to lose something you worked hard to get ) its only fun for the 1st P

Not always - being the 2nd pvp during a deleveling party and being online... I have to say that there is nothing more fun than that... try it :-p

I'm amazed as I used my so called "OP" pots and get schooled by 1k players. lol.

#974637 LE Sets with Temporal Shift Enhancement (Set Bonus)

Posted by yotwehc on 30 December 2016 - 02:25

that mantra has kinda been beat to death

now dont get me wrong- i agree that players have worked very hard to get to "up there"  and deserve some special treatment and bonuses for all the hard work - but just because a player is much lower in lvl doesnt mean they should be 'severely handicapped more and more as new items come out -leaving them out in the cold  - right now a lvl 3k player can reduce their teleport recharge time by 14 seconds ? while others that cant afford the few temporal epics within their lvl ranges are stuck with a 30 sec recharge time (assuming everyone has a shrine of lvl 10)

Outside of the hunted cow, most high level players have no interest hunting the lower level titans ;-p

#974575 PVP Seasons as a Global

A PvP event should work the same as it does in the game. So I could see PvP protection being used as a type of opt out. It would be the way for a player not interested in the event to protect their xp.  It would also have to prevent them from taking part as well. It's consistent with how the game actually works.

Lest you forget, protection was available before seasons started... I had it and was basically opted out of the carnage... Many didn't and complained... Actually, maybe lower price of protection before event to give folks an opt out before the carnage begins... that's not a bad idea.
