The suggestion: create "talent templates". This is how it would work:

  • Upon an EP payment (should be less than creation of new character slot) a character may have a "talent template".
  • Talent template would permit the creation of 2 sets of talents
  • Attributes would not be included
  • A character could have 2 talent sets in a single talent template
  • A character could switch between the 2 talent sets at any time without any cost

How would this work in practical terms? Due to the attribute point assignments, most viable templates would be:

  • Warrior / Templar
  • Ranger / Assassin
  • Mage / Healer

This would mainly be useful for mid to higher level players but any level could use this feature. What it means is that each time you make a level, you can assign talent points to each talent set. Then when there is an instance or world boss, if the party is short a class type, someone could switch. This would probably be mainly for a warrior to switch to tank, or mage to healer. But if someone wanted to lug around two armor sets, they could switch between any 2 classes (however attribute assignments makes this unattractive -- better just to build another character if that is desired).

For warriors / templars, it just means carrying both 2H weapon, 1H weapon, and shield

For mages / healers, it just means carrying 2 staffs, 1 with healing gems and 1 with attack gems

For rangers / assassins, means carry both bow and 2 weapons

Benefits to game: no more tank / healer shortage, more market demand for gems (because now character will want more types of gems), more market demand for weapons (because character will now want alternative weapon types); also provides gold sink as people would buy more spells

Benefits to Cow: more EP sales as every higher level player will want a template, also likely more respecs also meaning more EP sales

Cost to implement for Cow -- probably not high, should be mostly database related, minor code update for talents, minor code update for UI on talent popup

Thoughts? Comments?

I would love this, i like  being a healer, but at solo play mage is way better to level up.

But i dont see this coming     :(         .

this is what the extra character slots and respecs are for. whilst a useful idea, it is a luxury not an essential or needed function. I dont see it as beneficial to HC unless switching had an EP cost and the function being more expensive than a char slot, as this effectively allows for doubling the amount of char slots you have.

The other thing with this is that currently we have numerous lvl cap players who regularly bemoan the need for more to do, building a templar/healer is a way forward for them for those times they cant find one for their constant dungeon runs ;)

implementing this would take away the build phase for them which includes learning how best to utilise the potential skill sets of less familiar classes
