No I'm not going to say pants...

 

What if we had a new item slot that took the form of some kind of satchel or backpack.

It wouldn't have to provide any combat stats (though it could perhaps give some enhancements depending on how rare a form of satchel/backpack it were)

 

They could be spread out and integrated into all levels of the game, as new quest rewards, arena items, pvp ladder rewards hell, could even be some epic backpack drops from titans.

 

Now, obviously the main thought process I had was to enable people to have a form of backpack (actual backpack ie storage space) that they could find, win, buy and perhaps even upgrade without having to do so through the FSP/gold upgrade screen.

 

They wouldn't have to provide enormous boosts to storage, perhaps start it off at 1-2 for common (rarity speaking) satchels up to I don't know 10-15 for epic class ones?

 

Perhaps the epic version could even add stam gain, while the arena/pvpladder rewards could come with new/unique pvp related enhancements.

 

Just a thought, does anyone else think this could be a good idea?

I can't really see much of a point to this. If we want more backpack space, we can just buy it.

 

I would think an additional item slot would be something such as a charm, and have it be more Enhancement focused rather than stat focused. Or pants.

Sounds like a cool idea to me. Obviously it shouldn't be overpowered but small bonuses could be a good idea

Think of it as a sort of 'vanity' item if you like...

 

It would/could be pretty useful to a new player too.

 

More importantly it would change up our equipped inventory section a bit, which has looked very, well, boring and dated and exactly the same for the better part of a decade...

Not a bad idea - maybe make the backpack act as a more "questly" type of item. Ie - it will hold your questing items, where you can upgrade the pack to the max number of items one would need to complete a quest? Or it could hold up to say 15 quest items (as some people probably start quests but don't finish them, myself included). I know I have like 5-6 items that are just sitting in my pack, and I don't want to toss them, but I also don't want to go back and do the quests just yet.

Yes agree, what is the point in adding this, we can buy more backpack slots, should we wish to have more. Epic fail I am afraid...

Well, there IS that of course...

 

But there's also the fact that a brand new item slot can/will add in a lot of new possibilities, while looking cool and adding in new functionality. Imagine for a second that Hoof/Zorg put their minds in gear and made us a weapon set such as a slingshot, or crossbow etc that 'required' you have a certain item in your satchel, 'quiver', 'seedbag' etc etc

 

Or perhaps a fake ghostbusters set that actually had a back pack like it supposed to!

 

Instead of simply going, "Hurr durr, but we can already buy those!!" Try and think outside the box for a change people. Being boring and trying to be as hyper efficient in everything we do as possible has lead us to a VERY boring game sometimes...

 

Lets do something just because it could be cool, for a change. >.<

I like it. BP space looks the same. I would like to see something different. It could even have movement, I would like that because I'm always looking at people, places and things in this game.  It is part of the magic that keeps me logging in everyday but the weekend... I have to do house work and shopping some time.

You could titan it, with any one you want, or a different titan on each one. lol

 

There really is not limit to looks for it.  Does not have to do anything but make others jealous.

Decided to remove the poll as it was not really serving its true purpose; from people voting no out of spite to my personal stalker who will simply always vote no regardless of merit, to this... Now I could live with the former, but this, this just makes me sad.

This person's evaluation of the merit of the idea didn't even factor into the no vote they gave. Merely the developers ability to incorporate it into the game without breaking something else. I don't suppose I can truly blame them, look at the quote above, we can't actually even use something as simple as apostrophes in our messages without it glitching.

 

It certainly is a sad state of affairs though when ideas can/will be put down and disregarded not because they are bad, but because people don't have faith that they can be put into the game without breaking something else. It makes me hesitate to even try and come up with suggestions at this point. *sad face*

I agree, and add in the scenario of players deciding the devs can't handle it, instead of letting the devs decide. There have been times when I have thought of things that might be altered a bit to make them better (composing interface for one), but haven't bothered to post here because I see too many ideas get shot down with nothing more than, "The cows have enough to do." or "Sounds like too much coding." or "There are other things that need fixing first." or "We're still waiting for new rewards for xyz." Then there are some who will agree or disagree with an idea solely based on who posted it. So I don't waste my time creating such posts anymore.

 

Sorry Doom, I know you really wanted that neon pink sparkly backpack... so here you go.

some think you are referring to a new back pack slot while others say its a new item slot for armor being used.....im pretty sure from your description it is the latter. but which one is it? i had a dream once that we had a new item slot that gave us the ability to add gems we found to change the color of the items equipped so that no matter what items we wore, they would all match. sounds silly i know

Some think you are referring to a new back pack slot, while others say its a new item slot for armour being used... I'm pretty sure from your description it is the latter. But which one is it? I had a dream once that we had a new item slot that gave us the ability to add gems we found to change the colour of the items equipped, so that no matter what items we wore they would all match. It could be either, or both. Some backpacks could (temporarily) add backpack slots, some could add new enhancements, some could do funky stuff like you just said. (changing colours wouldn't work though, unless they added a simple overlay to the whole section of the profile, which would kind of work I suppose) Some could function as ammo stores for new kinds of weapons.

My only real stipulation regarding it's use is that it wouldn't add any combat stats.

 

 

We are only limited by our imagination, contrary to peoples beliefs most of these things wouldn't be terribly hard to code for, or take terribly long to do...

  Not serving it's purpose or just not going the way you wanted it to?  Not everything is going to be a popular idea and people have many reasons for voting one way or the other.  I voted no because I think it's just unnecessary but removing the poll because it wasn't going your way seems a bit manipulative on your part.

Probably not going to be able to change your mind, but I didn't remove the poll because it wasn't going in my favour.

I've left up lots of polls over the years that haven't gone the way I desired. I explained why I removed the poll. I actually resent your accusation, quite rude and unnecessary... I don't wish to get into a pointless forum urinating competition with you though, so think what you like.
