it should be one of those annoying little bugs that pop up on screens to tell you important things.

 

It should blink on and off and that sort of jazz to keep you from tuning it out.

 

I think such a thing would be helpful to those of us who have just one more thing to do to wrap things up before we have to leave.

Yep, would be nice.

 

A simple countdown timer that appears on the screen would do the trick. Admins could trigger it with a '/countdown' command or something.

Great Suggestion, to those players who are Online.

 

Also, do something that a lot of other games have not done.

 

 

Add a clock when the game would be back up, a Prediction so we'll know when it'll be back up :-p

The only problem is that they dont know when they will be ready

A clock to predict when the servers will be back up could be updated every so often.

 

That is you THOUGHT it was going to be 1 hour. And so you initially set it to count down from 1 hour.  BUT you get close and know you have at least 5 or 15 min left and so you add that additional time on to it when you come to know it is there.

 

Kinda gives an update to those of us who are chomping at the bit to get back on again.

This idea reoccured to me the other day when I signed on just before the server went on the other day.  (Okay that was unplanned maintenance.)

 

However, with planned maintenance, if I am so unlucky to sign on AFTER the announcement has been made, then I will have no idea that the game is going down soon.

 

A clock bug thingy ticking down would be an ongoing notice even to those who log in at such a time OR have gone afk and so miss it that way.
