hello everyone, new to the forums but had a thought that hcs told me to post here. about the exp lost during a pvp hit, what if the attacker got a percent of the exp lost from the defender. the percentage would have to be based on the level difference, but i believe that it would get more players into pvp. dont be too harsh lol but please comment on what you think about this

Sounds good at the start of things but the only issue is it's to easy to exploit =/

Originally sounded very positive had a friend push this a few times but same reason it failed.

It's been suggested before with mixed reviews.  Some see it as a way to level up  but others want to stay the in the same level range and this kind of defeats that purpose.  Gaining xp from pvp also negates some or all of the xp lost on the BB.

edit - remove double post

Idea sounds nice but there are plently of ways to exploit it.  A low level could 100stam a 1900 and easily gain a couple of levels from the hit. Unless I see a way where it is balanced then it's a no for me, sorry.  But nice idea though.

PvP protection protects XP ;)

I have always loved this idea! If done properly, not to give too much xp, I think this would really liven up the game...

what if there was an option in player preferences that you could opt out if you would like to stay in a certain pvp range or maybe use pvp protection. and as far as the BB we could not have it count for the xp gain

yes a balance would have to be made or maybe have it within your pvp range, so you would only get the xp from hits in your range

yes but there are not many players that use pvp protect that i have come across and the players using pvp protect are not pvpers so this might not be an issue.

Could be interesting. How would the game be if this change only applied to the Bounty Board? Levelers might have some interest if they had another way to gain EXP outside of easy 12345678r hunting. I know people have been eager to have the BB changed and I think this would be a fun change.

Won't solve the issue of no one ever being listed on the BB though.

This is a key question.

Why is the BB inactive?

This is a key question.

Why is the BB inactive?

- The reward for doing a gold hit isn't worth losing 5 levels anymore. Master Thief has the lowest activation rate out of any skill or buff (I've never seen Master Thief activate in the 6 years I've been playing).

- The people who like to hit/smash others, but don't like it when the favor is returned ends up deterring people from taking a chance of losing 5 levels for clearing that type of person (aka the double dippers).

- If you are in the wrong guild and you hit the same player more than a few times, you get an automatic suspension.

Just to name a few.

Thanks for your insight vastilos - this leads to more questions from me, I hope you don't mind.

1) So gold and profit cannot be made from gold hits anymore? How then does PvP sustain itself in game?

2) The double dippers - are you referring to folk who hit someone - get hit back, and then bounty the person who hit them back? They dish it, but can't take it and have the person who hit back put on the BB? Am I correct?

3) Is that true? So being in a particular guild is a disadvantage and results in suspensions? Can this be confirmed?

Thank you.

Good-bye and hello, as always.

No sir I do not mind any questions lol. I'll answer as best as I can.

1) PvP isn't sustainable in the game lol. People just do it for prestige and .

2) You are correct.

3) I just got my forum privileges back, so I cannot mention names or specifics on here. It is against the rules and I would like my input to be heard so I am going to obey them. But yes.

Sorry mate but that's utter guff. We have warned players who have been outright ruining other peoples game through bully boy tactics. A message is sent to the player or Guild in question. If they do not stop, THEN a suspension is put in place. This is a fairly rare occasion.

It raises more questions for me, unfortunately.

The big one is if PvP is not sustainable how does PvP contribute mightily to the game economy as has been stated in the past?

Unless to be a PvP player you must donate? Do all players who PvP donate to keep their habit going - or do they have to supplement their in game income via merchanting or the arena?

+1 to vastilos, and:

Because there are too many ways to profit without getting close of PvP, and nothing to support/profit on Ladder, BB, PvP in general.

Another reason is because now there are 2 kinds of PvPers, high lvl ones, low/mid lvl ones, don't worth to spent 1FSP worth of tickets on a bounty to get a reward of 65K gold...On the old days that difference was smaller, now it's 700-1000 lvls of difference.

Another reason you can answer me, Belaric, why YOU don't PvP? Your reason will explain a lot of players, my way of thinking is: HCS need to bring more people to PvP somehow.

A fair question yghorbb.

2 main reasons.

1) My aim was always EOC, it consumed all my time and energy catching end of content, very little distracted me from that - no seasonals, no quango, no storybook forest, no titans, precious few SE, no inventing, no arena - I was totally consumed with gaining levels and catching EOC.

2) My guild now takes up all my energy. (And took up a bunch when I was catching EOC - I'd have made it much faster if I was not a GF!!) And I like to keep up with EOC, do the events as they happen and try to get in titan hunting when I have spare stam. I want that ruby medal. This fills my time and more importantly consumes my stam very adequately.

When required for my guild I was on the PvP ladder - I wanted moo coins to make dragon draped sabatons. I saw there was an art to timing hits for best effect - I did not really bother - I mostly just hit folk back as hard as they hit me when I was on and had the chance. Given other uses of my stam - titans and new content primarily (collecting commons for a composing guild mate now uses some of my stam) committing to the ladder and using the stam required to buff myself adequately to hit and defend did not seem worth it to me long term. I lost a few levels on the ladder due to 100 stamming for rating, and was never bountied. It was not a negative experience, but it was not a hugely interesting or addictive one either. If there was a time based medal for just being on the ladder, or in the top 5... I would have been more tempted to stay. I am a medal junkie - which is why the recent guild medals and their awful implementation and rampant abuse/exploitation really hurt my affection for this game. Another reason to stay off the ladder - once I got smasher bronze I would have felt compelled to get smasher silver! LOL! I regret ever bothering with the chest medal (I hate bronze medals) and now need to work on my top 100 global silver...

I am not inclined to PvP - even when it is risk free - I get hit for prestige every so often (probably more after this post - LOL!), and could probably hit back without any issue - i just don't bother - prestige does not make a big enough statistical difference to my levelling for me to care that much about it, and when I was chasing EOC even the risk of being bountied and losing levels was anathema. So by habit and inclination I do not now PvP. I also avoided easy smasher hits for the reason above - I did not want to get bronze and upgrade to silver - I also did not want a medal that did not really reflect my interests in the game. I believe that medals should accurately reflect your activities and interests in the game - which again is why their abuse/farming in the guild medals disheartened me so fundamentally.

I couldn't answer you on how PvP right now contributes to the game economy. For me at least, I don't find it worth it anymore. Back when there were sets that could help you defend against a pvp attack, I personally used to spend money so I could have 2-3 sets on hand (one set would be my offline set to help defend against an offline pvp attack). But now with all of the new gear and everything beating everything else, you don't need gear now, you just need buffs. Making money in the game via arena or being a merchant isn't something I can comment on.
