Karthak? Or did I wake up on the wrong side of the bed?

From about level 800 odd, there are quests that require bucket loads of components and at least one expensive purchase-only part. There are also quests that require you to carry one item for about 15 odd levels before you can use it. There is Riangi. You carry a recipe from level 911, and gather components till level 918. That's just four quests on the way. But Karthak? That's a whole other torture in itself. You are to endure the endless walking and multiple quests (that actually begin from the Xanlin area) and continue on it for 30 odd levels.

An example: A Favor for a Friend. This level 959 quest requires inventing one item, for which you need three parts. Each part requires those several components and that one purchase-only part. So just inventing this main quest items costs you about 20 mil plus of gold. Then you also get to invent yet another item, just because.

(And best part? You receive a quest item as reward that you would need at level 970)

Definitely no fun.

After subjecting my guild with all the ranting, I thought I'll share my misery with other peeps as well :D

Now go back to your work!

Karthak is the reason I stopped doing quests until I reached EOC and then went back to clear them out.  The expensive purchases, especially when those items are lost on failed invents, don't make the quests fun.  That's why I was glad to see a recent new quest with required purchases of 450 gold.  Much easier to buy and not a big deal if it's lost on a failed try so it makes the whole quest more enjoyable.

Perhaps these should be revisited at least for the cost factor, if not for the added headache of carrying as much stuff. One should have several backpack spaces for these quests.

Oh why bother! I don't even have the gold required to clear the level 962 quest (430k × 6, plus zillion number of kills that may or may not drop the required components).

And 961 has a bug. It says I need a spear to kill an elite, but the component of that spear is dropped by that elite. Lol. 9 mil down the drain. Something similar was in the Bite the Hand quest in Xinderoth.

There's bound quest item that does not have any use, and can't be broken.

By far the most challenging quest line for me.

Once I figured out it ended at 1000, or a spoiler, The Circle of Elements it was a little to late to collect the items from elites back before entering Karthak.

I did finish the quests line  almost immediately when I hit 1000 as I had about 90% of inventing done.

The big difference between when I did the quest back them is Inventory space.

I still had to upgrade my BP, progressively, yet unlike today, I didnt have to hold GE chests, composed potions and awesome gear to clutter my BP.

Still, having to hold items for 150-ish levels is a pain, I grant you.

It's all in your game play!!!

Cows should add a new titan or SE at 1000 to make the questline useful again :)

Personally, I LOVED Karthak and Dreadlord questlines - they're far more interesting than the "kill x of y" ones or "go here, do this, go there, do that" ones.

I wish there were loads more like them....

Homer : Marge, don't discourage the boy. Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals .. except the weasel.

Eddie Izzard : The National Rifle Association say that guns don't kill people, people do. But I think the gun helps, you know ? I think it helps. I think just standing there going "BANG" - that's not going to kill too many people, is it ?

I don't mean to sound pessimistic, but it seems that everything I eat lately turns to poo ...

The gold requirement is still over the top IMHO. One single quest requiring more than 5 purchasable items of 450k or higher is plainly ridiculous.

This DXP, I had built back some of the gold reserves I had, and then I went back to complete the quests level 971 onwards. My bank account is almost empty and I am hardly half way through the remaining quests before I reach back to level 1000.

Yeah, Karthak is a big money pit.... I actually skipped it entirely at the time and went back and did it much later, bit by bit, when I had a walking quest to do....
If you would like a guide to where to level without having to deal with it now, PM me in game and I'll send the one I was given to you.

Just to think there never has and never was any reason for anyone to do a single quest in Karthak. their is a very clear and easy way to avoid it. with around 1 hours planning or just ask people who actually know how to play the game. Do you all know one of the 951 realms has a level 966 critter in it...

There's also a champ in one of the lower "Karthak" realms
